Unshakable

“25See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? 26At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”[e] 27The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29for our “God is a consuming fire.”  Hebrews 12:25-28

This is the ‘word’ that God has given me for this year.  To me it means that God is with me always and that His Kingdom and His word stands forever, even when the things around you seem to fall apart or do fall apart.  It also means that God wants everything we are and have and wants us to worship Him as our number 1 focus in our lives and not make Him any less than that.  To put away our idols and keep in mind what is truly important, and that is not what is seen and temporary or what the world has to offer, but eternal values and truths and what really matters and that is building our homes/mansions in Heaven.  Making a difference here on earth, to share and give and Love.

Thank you Father for your word and may we be encouraged by you every day from what you tell us through your words.  In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Your Word

“Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart”  Jeremiah 15:16

God’s Word(The Bible) is always a blessing to the believer that reads it.  Through the Holy Spirit that educates and discerns.  Through the Son who speaks.  Through the Father that gives.  Thank you Lord for your Holy Roadmap that guides us.  Your Word is a lamp unto feet and a light unto my path.

Blessings!

itchy ears

I have been needing to write this post forever and have yet to complete it.  But, I am determined to complete it as I feel it’s part of the ‘change’ culture that seems to pervade our current temperature in our country.

I have a lot to say on this topic and for me it seems that it’s opinionated, but I will keep close to His word and quote it to stay on topic and not stray.

I’m not sure if this will be strictly on itchy ears as well as other topics that fall close to the tree on this one.

here it goes.

“For a time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”                  2 Timothy 4:3, 4

Jesus said that the day is near for His return soon after His Resurrection.  So, here we are 2000 years later and still waiting upon His return.  He did say though that the world will get worse before His return, as well as many more prophecies that need to be fulfilled prior to His return as well.  With that said, I feel that the scripture above seems to be a reality today, but not one that is unfamiliar in past centuries.  I think we can find it in many pulpits around our nation and around the world.  The sad part is that God’s Word is being distorted and skewed in order to profit some and for other reasons as well like selfishness, personal gain, boasting, personal glory, etc.  The good part of this is that God’s Word says this “My Word will not return to me void”  in other words, what the Lord says will happen.  What the Lord does will come to pass. What the Lord’s purpose is will occur, in spite of these false doctrines and lies.

What is our purpose in this?

We need to be on guard as believers!  What does that mean?   It means that we must know the Truth!  What is the Truth?  His Word- The Bible….KNOW IT!!!

The situation we have in Christianity is that we have believers that don’t know His word.  Thus, we are led astray like sheep to the slaughter, unknowing of what the truth is and believing something that ‘sounds good’ or ‘sounds right’  Throw a couple verses our of context to a group of uneducated believers and your gonna get some people that like what they hear because what’s being said sounds good to you and hey, your lifestyle doesn’t have to change because God Love’s everyone and there are no consequences for our actions.  This is a predicament that we have in the 21st century church.

“My people die for a lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6

How will you determine what is truth and what is false?  Do you have itchy ears and like to hear good feeling sermons over and over and don’t like the sermons that challenge you to change and become a knowledge and wise believing Christian?  I would question your faith and your walk.  Are you the same person today as you were 1 year ago?  Are you the same person as you were 2 years ago?  Have you learned and gained knowledge and wisdom?  When you go to work, do you learn anything?  Or are you stagnant?  What is different from your faith than your job?  What is eternal versus temporal?  God isn’t going to ask you how much $ you made on earth or how far did you advance in your career when you die.  He’s going to ask you what did you do for my people?  What did you learn?  What did you give?  How can you answer these questions if you don’t know His Word to tell you and guide you?

Be weary of those that preach or teach and skew or take out of context His word.  Make sure that scripture is the focus of the preaching and teaching and cross check the scriptures that are being said, because even the devil can quote and know scripture(even better than us) and still promote his message of death and destruction or apathy and discord.  Question everything and trust His Word to be the light unto your feet and a light unto your path.

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”          2 Timothy 3:16, 17
