God’s provision for today is what I’m learning recently.  It just makes sense. We continue to look at our past and think about our future so much. I know I have been as of late because of my job situation I’m in currently. I think about the future and having a job and working towards getting that job and I think about the risks I have taken to get where I am at in my past as well.

Instead, I just need to focus on Today more, I have come to realize.  God has given us this day, our daily bread. His provision is for today and not to worry about tomorrow. His provision was the same with the Hebrew nation in the desert for 40 years and His provision was in the Lord’s prayer as well.

I am learning this more and more, but in my humanness I still try to understand His Word, His provision and  His today through it all.

Give us this day, our daily bread – Matthew 6:11

The present

Many people will walk in and out of your life,

but only true friends leave footprints in your heart.

To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;

if he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events;

small minds discuss people. He who loses money, loses much;

he who loses a friend, loses much more; he who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,

but beautiful old people are works of art.

Learn from the mistakes of others.

You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.

Friends, you and me. . . you brought another friend. . .

and then there were three. . .

we started our group. . .

our circle of friends. . .

and like that circle. . .

there is no beginning or end. . .

yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

That is why they call it the present.

swine flu…really?

We must look at the facts before we make a judgement call on what is a epidemic, pandemic or endemic.  Is it the fact that it’s news worthy and a hot topic that the news channels have made this such a BIG story?  Are they Fear Mongering?  My thoughts, YES, DEFINITELY!

Facts:  1650 people will die TODAY, in the US ONLY, from Heart Disease.  Yesterday, 65 people died from regular flu and pneumonia and the day before that and the day before that….165 people will die today and everyday from automobile accidents.  Everyday 6,600 people die from something.

17 people are confirmed dead from the swine flu since it’s outbreak.  Is that a cause for concern, based on the facts above?  I don’t think so.  Should we be careful and heed cleanliness as a good policy, yes, but that was taught to us as CHILDREN.  This should NOT be a revelation to any of us.  If it is, you have other issues to worry about.

Concerns need to be addressed, I agree and so does this, but to make it such a grandiose issue and shut down borders and shut down planes, trains and automobiles and buses?  Come on now!  Let’s never leave our homes or travel abroad or even get in the car to do anything anymore, because look out, something could happen to you, you could die or you could witness Christ to someone.   How horrible?!?!?!?!   PUHLEASE!!!!!!!

I will not live in fear or let my life be guided by fear mongers or anyone else who uses scare tactics to suade me.  I believe when it’s your time to die, there is nothing you can do about it.  Tomorrow is not promised to ANYONE!  That’s why we need to live everyday to the fullest, love life and enjoy it.  Today is the day of salvation.  Let not your hearts be troubled, for God cares about you and tomorrow has enough worries of it’s own.  Live out your life and give it your best EVERYDAY and do not fear, for He has overcome this world.  This isn’t our home anyway people, we are aliens in a foreign land.  Eternity is far more important than some flu and fear.

How many people out of the 6,600 people that died today are saved is the bigger question?  What are you and I doing about that?

St.Paddy’s Day

I’m a loving this St.Patrick’s Day today and am looking forward to all this day has in store for all of us!  Here is a couple links I wanted to share with you about this special day.  Facts and Legends here.  Wiki’s take on all things St.Paddy!

I didn’t realize that originally BLUE was the color that people used in celebration of this day, but now it’s green due to the Shamrock and it’s color.  Crazy that we could have all been wearing blue today instead of Green.  BTW are you wearing your green today??

state of the union, today

Our current economic situation is in the pitts everyone.  We all know this, but what can we do about it?  I am not sure, but to pray about it.  Petition our Lord and ask Him to help us.

Where does my help come from?   It comes from the Lord!

We must count on something and money is not it.  Who do we serve?  Money or God?  Where is your trust?

No one is perfect and we all have hopes, dreams and aspirations, but let’s make positive decisions to better our future and hopefully those decisions make the future a better one.

I say we need to pray for our next president too, whether you like him or not, he needs prayer as much as you and I do and he will be facing many BIG decisions in the next 4 years that will affect all our lives.  So, let’s pray that he makes the ‘right’ decisions, not based on lobbyist and favors he owes, but out of wisdom and what’s best for everyone in the great USA!

November 17, 2008

Today is Monday, November 17th, 2008.  It definitely feels like a Monday in many respects.  I feel hung over from the weekend, not in the way you think, but just those Monday morning blues you get after a weekend of rest and relaxation.  The mindset of, “I really don’t want to be at work today!” type of feeling, ya know?

I feel like many trials and decisions in my life are facing me all at once, AGAIN!  My nephew was arrested this past week at school.  I won’t get into the ugly details, but it really saddened me.  He’s 18 years old and a Senior in High School.  He has all and more of anything that any child around the world would envy and desire, yet seems to be unsatisfied with it all.  He will be in alternative learning school for 9 weeks before he can return back to his own high school.  I’m surprised the H.S. is allowing him to come back.  He’s fortunate that they are.  I just don’t understand what would drive a young adult like him to make poor decisions over and over and expect to get away with it.  Or want to continue to make those poor decisions.  He was raised in the Church, has a great home life, has many role models to look up to.  So what is it that causes someone to make these decisions.  Is it our society to blame?  Is it peer pressure?  Is it inherent in the genes?  I don’t know, but I do hope that things will work out for him and that he realizes the severity of his actions and that he does make a 180 degree turn in his life and realize the err of his ways and the people he is hurting.

My job for second, is tough right now.  I’m in a new group(nuff said)  I’m learning a new role all together and meeting new people(a good thing).  Networking is great and learning new skills is good as well.  The part I don’t like is the Politricks that go along with the job.  There are always different opinions and views than that of your own that you must overcome.  This is challenging at times, especially when those folks are higher on the food chain than yourself.  I need prayer in this and ask for your help in this time of need I find myself in.

The salvation of my family is important to me.  I have lots of family members who aren’t saved, and this bothers me extremely.  Especially when one of the many is your own Dad!  Please pray that my family would come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior.  I have a burden for the lost as well, pray all who don’t know Jesus, that they would come to know Him.

Lastly, but not least, my wife.  She is going through some changes in herself, that are really different.  This has given me some setback.  I feel like I’m learning to live with a new person almost.  I have been married to this woman for almost 10 years and known her for 17+   I have never know her to be the way she is now and it is troublesome.  Please pray for us and how this all is going to transpire.

Most important for me is, I know my Redeemer Lives and this makes me smile with joy, INSIDE AND OUT!  I know God’s promises to me and for me and I trust Him everyday to get me through this life, a tough one it has been so far for me.  Nothing has come easy for me and why should I expect any different now.  Cynicism seems to increase in me as I get older.  I don’t like that.  Have you noticed the same for you?  I battle it all the time.  I try to keep my focus on Him and stay positive, because I am a very positive person, yet I’m sensitive and feel like things that have always been, will always be sometimes.  Pray for me in this as well.

May you be blessed today and everyday and let’s pray for each other, eh?

Today/Now is the day of salvation.   Not tomorrow.  Scripture tells us this in several locations in the Bible.  Where are you in your life?  Have you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior yet?  If not, please see my sinner’s prayer post.  For there is no other name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved.  If you have, but are in need of spiritual renewal, please say this prayer:

“Father God, I come to you humbly.  Thank you for my salvation that is found in you.  Please renew my love for you and grant me your Holy Spirit to create in my a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.  For your word is a light unto my feet and a light unto my path.  In Jesus name.  Amen!”

 2 Corinthians 6:2, Acts 4:12

Blessings to you today!
