christian films

In order for us to see quality movies in the future, we need to support Christian films being made today.  One movie in particular that is currently featured at your local movie house is Fireproof.  A film featuring actor Kirk Cameron, who is a Christian.  If you didn’t know that already…he is also the same guy from the TV show Growing Pains.

Referenced recently was this quote from Rotten Tomatoes on the movies recent weekend success:

Coming from seemingly out of nowhere and debuting in fourth place was the Kirk Cameron drama Fireproof. The film, which tells the story of a firefighter who must find a way to save his marriage, brought in an estimated $6.5M from only 839 screens for a strong average of $7,764, second highest in the top ten. The film has been heavily promoted to Christian groups and proves once again that religious-themed films can bring in an audience.

So take your better half and go see this movie and support Christian Films being made today!

So my wifey and I got some free passes last week to go see a sneak-preview of the new movie “Hancock” with Will Smith.  Well, I like Will Smith and I think he is a great actor and a good human being in real life as well.  This movie was real funny.  Lots of laughs and action as well.  The co-stars, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman both do a good job in supporting roles as well.  side note: This is Will’s 5th Independence Day opening as well. There are man verbal vulgarities, but outside of that, it was a real enjoying movie.  I give it 4 out of 5 stars.  It opens up today, so check it out if you are able.

chronicles of narnia: prince caspian

The wifey and I went to see this movie last Friday night.  I have to say that it wasn’t as good as the first one, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe.  Are any of the successive installments to any original really better than the first ever?

There seemed to be a lot of lulls in the movie as well as mediocre acting.  The kids are grown up a bit more, but not too believable in their roles this time around.  They seemed to have bigger roles in this movie and that didn’t seem to bode well with the overall feel of the movie.

The supporting cast wasn’t that great either.  I remember the ice queen in the first movie seemed to steal the show and display great acting and believability as well as Aslan the lion showing great power and animation that really captivated the audience.  The villian in this movie seemed dry and almost corny.

Overall I rate this movie 2 stars on a 4 star scale and that might be generous.  I would like to hear your thoughts on this movie and tell me if I’m too harsh or not enough.

I am an avid movie fan.  I love all types of movies.  Old b&w ones, new CGI ones, animation, action, drama and comedy.  I have thought about what attracts me to movies and I find myself going to flicks that tend to have a lot of action in them i.e. the latest Die Hard saga.  I guess it’s because I’m a guy and like that sort of stuff or something.  I’m not 100% sure why I prefer action, but I do, thus my proneness to go see action flicks.

My favorite movie of all time is Braveheart.  Have you seen it…it’s definitely an action flick, but has a love story in it as well as good dialogue.  It stars Mel Gibson and a very good supporting cast.  The plot is thick and full of surprises too.  Check it out if you haven’t seen it.  I have seen it over 20+ times and of course own the movie.  I actually get inspired to be a better man and even to take action in my community and do something positive.  This is what a real Great movie will do for you like this one did for me.

I have a link to Rotten Tomatoes(funny name, but good website) that gives different peoples thoughts and views on every movie out there, past and present.  It even rates games and the like if your into that.  The rating is based on freshness or the NOT so fresh.   Just sign up and you can post your thoughts on movies too.
