Between Jobs Ministries

aka BJM, is a great ministry located in NW Houston. I would highly recommend it for anyone that is actively looking for a job. They teach you some great principles about networking while uplifting you with positive words of encouragement.

I went this past Wednesday for my first time and pre-registered online before I got there. It was a real wonderful experience for me and after it was all over with I felt uplifted and reinvigorated to go out and look for a job.

I hope that you will find the same to be true as well. They have been doing this for over 10+ years. You can find more information about it on their website here:

Powerful Testimony

I have found a passion for a wonderful ministry here in Houston. It’s called street Church. They meet in the Montrose area, in a parking lot, every Wednesday.

The point of it all is to share Jesus with anyone who will listen. Usually the folks that show up are down and out and need help and spiritual support and love. That’s what this ministry provides once a week, every week, for these folks.

I am sharing this video with you from one of the nights I was there. Talk about a powerful testimony, this one will knock your socks off.

It’s about 10 minutes long, but worth watching.

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect – 1Peter 3:15

Emmaus news

Exciting things are happening in the Houston area Emmaus Community.  We are having a Women’s Walk #55 this weekend and a Men’s Walk #56 the weekend after.  I am sponsoring a wonderful person this weekend and I am working the men’s walk the following weekend.  I’m very excited about what Emmaus has done for me and what it will do for all the new pilgrims that go on these walk weekends.  May the LORD bless each and every one of you in every way!

You can check out the new Pilgirm’s Journey newsletter out for this month and other great information at the Houston website.

NFL Season begins

I just got back from the first game of 2009 for the Houston Texans.  I got season tix this year with my buddy Joe Buffa aka Bubba.  🙂

They lost horribly to the Jets and rookie QB Mark Sanchez from USC(great school!)  27-7 was the final.  Tough loss, but glad to see football season has started.  Look forward to many more fun games in the future.  Let’s hope the Texans do better after this disappointing loss.

My Lakers are in the Finals AGAIN!!!!!!!

This is their 30th trip to the Finals, more than any other team in the History of the NBA!  That is a huge feat!  They have the second most Championships behind their arch nemesis Boston Celtics, but that’s because of Red Auerbach doing such a fabulous job with a great team in the 50’s and 60’s.

I’m very excited to see Kobe get his 4th title under his belt as they go head to head against a real good team in the Orlando Magic.  I don’t think it’s going to be a walk for LA, so I’m picking them to take the series in 7.  LA has the home court advantage, but they have proved that they can lose it quickly in these 2008-09 playoffs.  They lost Game 1 at home to Houston and Lost Game 2 at home to Denver.  They did however, recover and win on the opposing team’s home court as well to bring back the home court, but still, they did lose at home.  I think both teams will win at home and that’s why I’m saying LA in 7, due to home court.

I think the Bynum/Howard match-up will be big as both guys will go head to head.  I like Howard in that match-up, but keep in mind that Howard has 6 Flagrant’s and needs one more to be suspended for 1 game.  I have a feeling that will happen before these Finals are over.  That will be devastating to Orlando because a huge part of their offense goes through Howard.  If Howard is suspended early in the series, I will take LA in less games.  No one stopped LeBron and I feel the same about Kobe.  The role players in Gasol, Ariza and Fisher will be big versus a solid lineup in Pietrus, Alston, Turkoglu and Lewis.  I can’t wait for the series to start on Thursday!!

There’s a lot of talk about how Orlando has taken the regular season series 2-0.  From what we have all seen, the regular season doesn’t matter!!  LA took Houston 4-0 in the Regular Season, yet  the series stretched to 7 games against LA.  The regular season doesn’t matter in my opinion.  It’s Win or GO HOME in these Finals and Kobe has a lot to prove.  He has to win this title to cement him as one of the best to play the game.  He has to win to prove all the nay sayers that he CAN win without Shaquille O’Neal.  He has to prove to himself that he can win with a great team around him and that he IS a team player and is a more mature Kobe Bryant than in any other year he has ever played basketball.  He has to win for the Lakers and He has to win for Los Angeles!

gynecologic cancer awareness

A co-worker shared this with me and I want to share it with you.  It’s gynecologic cancer awareness time and since I have know many people close to me in my life that have dealt with different forms of cancer, I felt this was needed to be shared.  Visit:

MD Anderson Cancer Center is truly making cancer history here in Houston, Texas.  They have helped thousands of people with cancer of all sorts and types.  There are so many ways to help protect yourself and be aware of signs of cancer.  Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death among gynecologic cancers, primarily because in approximately three-fourths of cases, it has already spread beyond the ovary at the time of diagnosis.

Please be aware of the signs and get informed.

December 11, 2008

Last night, December 10th, 2008, it snowed in Houston, Texas.   Wow!  It hasn’t snowed here in 4 years and what we consider ‘snow’ is a laughing stock for those in the North and East Coasts.  It was real cold and the white all over cars and shrubbery was really neat to look at.  We don’t see this type of weather here in H-town too often, so when we do, it’s something special.  Stay warm!

Here’s a friend’s picture of a ‘miniature snowman’

Here is a link to some phenomenal photos of the before and after devastation of Ike here in the Houston/Galveston area.
