30/40 Birthday

Image

Heather and I recently celebrated our 30/40 Birthday’s with family and friends and had a great time.  We celebrated it at our new home, had Fajita’s spread along with all the fixings and plenty to be thankful for.

Sophie 1 Year

I can’t believe it, but my little precious Angel is turning 1-year-old on July 19. We are looking forward to the day and celebrating it with her. Boy how time flies. Everyone has said it and I know it is true, but still it remains that time goes quick and I can barely believe it has been a year already…

All of the immediate family will be spending it with us for the big day and we will have a small party for her on that Saturday with a bunch of close friends. This will also be her first time eating sweet –anything and we are excited to see how that turns out!

Heather and I have enjoyed every moment spending it with our daughter and look forward to so many more wonderful memories that we will continue to build as she grows older.

Thank you God for this huge blessing of our beautiful daughter that you gave us to be a steward of.

Christmas 2011

What a blessing it is to celebrate this & every season of Christmas. In Sunday school class that my wife and I teach together, we asked every 10th grader this question, “What does Christmas mean to you?”  With many different answers, the same line did pervade every answer.  It’s about Jesus and being born and what he did for us. I was trying to hit home to them that they need to continue to focus on that aspect of Christmas more than just the presents under the tree.

That’s my issue with ‘Black Friday’ and the Christmas season in America today. It’s not about Jesus, it’s about monetary items, it’s about selling and advertising and capitalizing on the holiday rather than celebrating the Real reason for the season.  Understandably, the devil wants us to avoid the Real reason and get us distracted and focused more on a present to give or receive than worshipping Jesus and celebrating his birth some 2000 years ago.

I don’t focus on gifts anymore these days as I once did when I was a child. Nor do I give gifts to family members as I once did either. To me it’s giving back to charities and spending time with family and thanking God for the Best gift of all – the one and only true son of God, Jesus, the Christ child, the Messiah, the Saviour of the world!

So when your opening and unwrapping your gifts on Christmas morning, remember, the best gift of all has already given us the best he has, the best gift of all, his life for our sins.

Thank you Jesus and Happy Birthday!

10-10-10

I celebrated my Birthday yesterday.  It was numerically a really cool day to have my birthday on.  I went to Church, had lunch with my Mom and Heather at Pappasitos(love this place) and watched football all day.  I did exactly what I wanted to do and enjoyed it all completely.

We also celebrated at a buddies house(Kevin H.) on Saturday evening with a bunch of close friends.  Ate well and enjoyed the jacuzzi all evening.  So many wonderful people to encourage me and help me celebrate my day.

Friday, Heather and I went shopping, ate dinner at Fuddrucker’s(another great burger joint) and saw the movie “The Town.”  Great pre-bday celebration and the movie was GREAT!!

Thank God for so many wonderful people in my life.

change

U2 one of my favorite bands of ALL time sang on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial today in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday and in preparation for tomorrow’s ceremonies of a new change that he predicted would pass one day…and that day has arrived.

I blogger posted U2’s song dedicated to MLK and Obama and I thought it was totally powerful and awesome!!!

I have to say

I love Wikipedia.  It’s gotta be one of the best, comprehensive on line information sources available.  As I opened the home page, I started looking at the right side of the page and as you know or not, there is a section labeled “On this day”  Well, I decided to check out the “On this day” for my personal Birthday and year.  Pretty cool, interesting and crazy things happened on my birthday over that past millenia or so.  Also, there are those that share your birthday as you scroll down as well as those whom have died.

Check it out here: my anniversary!

my birthday

I’m getting older y’all.  Today is my birthday AND I’m at work, but so many of you are as well, so I dont’ feel bad and it’s FRIDAY TODAY, so that’s a good thing as well.  Anyway, for those of you that share my Birthday, Happy Birthday to you as well!!

The wifey is going to take me to some surprise place for dinner tonight and I’m looking forward to that.  We’re going to my favorite Pappasito’s for dinner tomorrow with the in-law’s(whom are cool) and I can’t wait to much on some of the best Fajitas in the WORLD.  Sunday, I’ll relax, go to church, watch Football and see my family afterwards.  Lord willing these things will all pass with fun and joy.

Thought for the day from my calendar of 1,000 places to see before you die, “I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my sense put in tune once more.”

Have a Great Weekend!!
