MERRY CHRISTmas

I pray you all have a Blessed Christmas and remember that Jesus is the REASON for this season.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life”  John 3:16

Thank you Father for your son Jesus, that gives us this new life.  Amen.

CHRISTmas

*Twas the month before Christmas*

*When all through our land,*

*Not a Christian was praying*

*Nor taking a stand.*

*See the PC Police had taken away,*

*The reason for Christmas – no one could say.*

*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*

*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*

*It might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say*

* December 25th is just a ‘ Holiday ‘.*

*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*

*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*

*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*

*Something was changing, something quite odd! *

*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*

*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.*

*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*

* At Lowe’s the word Christmas – was nowhere to be found.*

*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears*

*You won’t hear the word Christmas; it won’t touch your ears.*

*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty*

*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*

*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*

*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*

*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*

*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*

*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*

* Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*

*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*

*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*

*So as you celebrate ‘Winter Break’ under your ‘Dream Tree’*

*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*

*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*

*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,

Not Happy Holiday !*

Please, all Christians join together and

Wish everyone you meet

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Turkey Day

Thanksgiving is a reason for this season and every season.  May you and I both be thankful and grateful for all the gifts He has given us.

Thank you Father for all your gifts of health, love, family & friends for they are all gifts from you.  Amen.

“I will…open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”  Malachi 3:10

Suicide

Not sure about why this happens to be an answer for anyone

It saddens me when I hear about people committing suicide.  I think that it should never be an option.  There is always a brighter day just around the corner from the dark day you have been going through.

I know that we all know someone who has committed suicide and that is real sad.

I want to address the fact that there are so many people alive that want to LIVE that have horrible diseases like Cancer, Leukemia, AIDS, etc.  These folks are fighting to LIVE not wanting to die or commit suicide.  It makes me think of my ex-wife who had breast cancer and fought to live and battled cancer only to recover fully, thank God.  She wanted to live and suicide wasn’t an option.  So we did something about it.  Not giving in!!!

There are also suicide bombers.  These people really take the cake in my sadness of heart.  I hope that they realize this is a horrific way of ending their lives and causing so much pain, hurt and anger to those whom they have murdered and SHAME to their families.

I hear about people committing suicide in the Army.  I think I’m ignorant in why people do that there in the Army, I’m sure it’s hard, but I reference back to my first sentence.

Holidays are coming up as well and I know that this is always a hard time for lots of folks, especially those who have lost loved ones recently or during this time of the year.  This will be my first Holiday season single in over 10+ years and it’s hard for me too.  If you have been divorced ever, you know it’s like losing a loved one.  The relationship is dead and gone and loss is there.  I will make it through however as my focus is not going to be on self, but on Him who created me.

This Scripture passage(1 John 5:1-12) I think addresses and comforts the believer.  I know it does me.  I know that He has overcome the world and so will we!  Amen!

1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.  6This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are three that testify: 8the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

I received a note once on a piece of paper that said, “You can’t appreciate the Sunshine, until you have walked through the darkness”   This statement is reality for me and in my life!  Life isn’t fair or perfect(this was never promised to us), but when we have Jesus, we have so much to be thankful for and so much work to do on earth and so much to give.  May this be your thoughts as you focus with me this holiday season, not to focus on self but to look up and around you and be thankful and grateful for so much we have been given.

Blessings!

Holiday post

I super-duper like this post given by Dusty Kemp who is the Pastor at Bread of Life Church in NW Houston.  Here is what he has to say about the Saturday event known as Holloween:

WHAT ARE YOU GOING AS?

Well, it’s that time again. October 31st brings the galactic alignment of three events in my life this year. It is the thirtieth anniversary of Bread of Life/New Life Church and Daylight Saving Time ends.  And, as you all know, it is the night for some (who aren’t super-holy like you and me) to dress-up their children in clothes they would normally never wear, to visit neighbors they have never spoken to and strangers with unknown backgrounds, and threaten them for candy that they usually forbid their kids to eat. Wow I love holidays!

In late October, it seems like everyone wanting to make small talk, likes to ask you, “What are you going as?” They don’t bother to tell you where you are supposed to be going. But just to be on the safe side, I decided I’d better be ready to “go as something”, just in case. I have decided to dress-up as a Christian.

Hmmm. Now what would one of those look like? Do you know? Do you have a costume for one? I hope not. Costume is defined as “a set of clothes worn by an actor or someone attempting to masquerade.” If our Christian living is just an act, or a masquerade in which we are hiding what we really are, well, that’s hypocrisy.

Okay, let’s get dressed. First, we have to put on love.a It’s the greatest of all of the commandments. If we walk in love, all that God requires of man is fulfilled.b  Oh, and we must become like children. Jesus said that we wouldn’t enter Heaven if we didn’t.c  He meant to be mature in our thinking, but like children where sin and evil were concerned, harmless and inoffensive, not worried about anything, but trusting the Father in everything.d

It’s interesting isn’t it…that dressing like a Christian doesn’t involve “outer accessories”? There is no mention of carrying a Bible, wearing a suit and tie, etc. It is first dressing your heart with love and child-like faith. When that is done, the outer man will follow accordingly.

So, enjoy your weekend. Dress appropriately. If you see people masquerading and you think it’s a sin, remember that you are dressed in love! If you are collecting candy and think the hyper-religious are being weird by opting-out, be sure that there is a layer of love under your costume!

And with all of us dressed in love, let’s be children at heart, but not fight over trivial things like candy.

a (Colossians 3:14)
b (Romans 13:8b,9)
c (Matthew 18:3)
d (I Corinthians 14:20)

holiday

I had a wonderful weekend this past Labor Day weekend.  I went to Cabo San Lucas.  The weather was perfect, the beach was clear, blue and green and beautiful.  The city was real nice as were the people.  I would definitely go back and definately recommend it to anyone that would want to go as well.

Work to Live and NOT live to work is my motto!!

St.Paddy’s Day

I’m a loving this St.Patrick’s Day today and am looking forward to all this day has in store for all of us!  Here is a couple links I wanted to share with you about this special day.  Facts and Legends here.  Wiki’s take on all things St.Paddy!

I didn’t realize that originally BLUE was the color that people used in celebration of this day, but now it’s green due to the Shamrock and it’s color.  Crazy that we could have all been wearing blue today instead of Green.  BTW are you wearing your green today??

carpe diem!
