The name of God

I wanted to post this for a long time. The reason is because from what I know now is of importance to mostly the ‘Western Hemisphere’. Of most importance to get across for me in this blog today is the name “ALLAH”. This name is a beautiful name of God in Arabic. It is also the ONLY way to call him “GOD” in Arabic. Just like we say “GOD” in English, the same holds true in Arabic. Muslims don’t hold the sole right to call God “Allah” just like Christians don’t either. It is the universal name of God in Arabic.
So for education purposes I wanted to share this with you. I am also including a great excerpt from about the many understandings of the name ALLAH below:

**Allah (English pronunciation: /ˈælə/ or /ˈɑːlə/;[1] Arabic: الله‎ Allāh, IPA: [ʔalˤˈlˤɑːh] ( listen)) is the Arabic word for God (al ilāh, literally “the God”).The word has cognates in other Semitic languages, including Elah in Aramaic, ʾĒl in Canaanite and Elohim in Hebrew.

It is used mainly by Muslims to refer to God in Islam, but it has also been used by Arab Christians since pre-Islamic times. It is also often, albeit not exclusively, used by Bábists, Bahá’ís, Indonesian and Maltese Christians, and Mizrahi Jews. Christians and Sikhs in West Malaysia also use and have used the word to refer to God. This has caused political and legal controversies there as the law in West Malaysia prohibits non-Islamic uses of the word.

The Aramaic word for “God” in the language of Assyrian Christians is ʼĔlāhā, or Alaha. Arabic-speakers of all Abrahamic faiths, including Christians and Jews, use the word “Allah” to mean “God”. The Christian Arabs of today have no other word for “God” than “Allah”.(Even the Arabic-descended Maltese language of Malta, whose population is almost entirely Roman Catholic, uses Alla for “God”.) Arab Christians, for example, use the terms Allāh al-ab (الله الأب) for God the Father, Allāh al-ibn (الله الابن) for God the Son, and Allāh al-rūḥ al-quds (الله الروح القدس) for God the Holy Spirit.**

I hope this helps when from now on you hear the word Allah, you realize that it is the beautiful name of God in the Middle-East and other parts of the world.

I also wanted to iterate the fact that God’s name should never be taken in vain, Exodus 20. This is where the 10 commandments lye and the respect, reverence and holiness of our Father should never be taken lightly or in vain.

My Sanctuary

With recent events like ISIS and Ebola, along with the crazy headlines we see and hear daily. I find myself thinking about God in all this. Where is He and what is He doing. Bigger than that for me personally and bringing it home was my internal feelings and thoughts on all the scariness and the craziness and making sense of it all.

I did find that I couldn’t really make sense of all the madness, but what I did find outside of the fact that I had to ignore the madness, was taking myself to my inner chamber. That is where I spend time with God. That is where I find comfort and peace and joy that only I find in my Abba Father. See, what I realized was, that I don’t have a lot of control on the world around me, but what I can do is spend time meditating with God and praying to Him. On my knees in my closet, that is where I am most safe and comfortable and find myself going when I don’t know what to think about the world around me and the uncertainty.

God is my Rock and my Shield. God gives me the strength to press forward and fight the good fight despite what is going on, and there is a lot of good that is happening around me also. My friendships are being strengthened, my wife and daughter are strong and healthy. My job is great. Spiritually I find myself growing daily and am happy with where my walk is with God almighty. However, I am not complacent and know that daily I need to stay grounded and focused on my Lord and then go into the world and give and bless.

I have noticed the devil’s attacks more visibly as of late. I think that’s because of my closeness with God. That’s OKAY. Recognizing it is vital and since I have been able to recognize it, I have been able to battle it. No one is going to steal my JOY! I keep my eyes on God and however momentary my eyes wonder below, I keep reminding myself that God is for me, He is my refuge and strength.

Eternal Blessings upon you and yours.

On Twitter, there was a guy I followed that posted some neat topics about current events. I noticed one day that I hadn’t seen his posts in a while, so I went to find him and see what he was doing and why he wasn’t posting. I found out via his profile exclamation, “I used to post a lot of cool stuff, but I don’t anymore, get over it!”. I laughed to myself for several reasons.

First, it was pretty funny what he said.
Second, I realized he either got bored or something else happened, but the mundane of daily current events must have gotten to him. No substance.

My thoughts then wandered back to me. I was thinking about this blog and my twitter account and what I say and post, etc. What I began years ago on this blog and since I have been tweeting is that “It’s not about me or current events, necessarily”, but my focus has always been more Faith/Jesus based and less about me or current events. I enjoy posting random things and talking about my life, but ultimately I knew that my profile ultimately would end up like the guy’s quote earlier.

So, in closing, I do realize that I am finite and God is infinite and to talk about Him is wayyy more relevant than I ever will be.

So Happy

I just wanted to say how happy I am right now in my life. I am the happiest I have Ever been in my entire life!! I find it funny that after 38 years of life on earth that life just keeps getting better.

I of course attribute it all to God foremost & then my beautiful wife who has made my life a pure joy!  Amazing how great life can be when you are with the right person. It so makes all the difference.

God & my Christian walk has been a treasure. Finding my faith has filled me with so much hope and confidence that no matter what happens in my life, Jesus is right there with me every step of the way. What a comfort that is & peace of mind.

Thank you Abba Father for being too good to me.

His Name is Holy

I’m not sure when it became “OK” or in fashion BUT its NOT cool to take God’s name in vain. It’s very bothersome to me so much that I cringe inside every time I hear it out of somebodies mouth. I hear it on TV, Movies & yes sadly even other ‘Christians’. Yes I said ‘Christians’. I can’t believe that anyone that believes in Jesus can even say His Holy name in that context. I even believe that those who take His name in vain – I question their faith in God almighty. Exodus 20 gives us the Moral Law that transcends time – which means that of the 613 OT Laws, these 10 never “expire” as some of the 613 have. Guess what one of the ten state? Yep you guessed it “Do not take the Lord your Gods name in vain”.

Just in case you have said it before-remember what the Bible says about it & read the Bible more and educate yourself and get to know your God who loves you.

Praise the Lord

God is good! All the time! I got a job and start next monday.

So thankful I am for God’s perfect timing of this job. I believe that when His timing is right that I would find a job and I have.

I feel like Jars of Clay found in Isaiah 64:8 “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand”

I believe I would find a job, just in His timing. I didn’t want to lose my last job, but that really wasn’t up to me. I didn’t want to be out of work, but again, it wasn’t up to me. A pattern begins. So, I had to work through this time and wait upon the Lord to make this happen.  Very glad it has happened finally and although it’s been a long 4 months, I know that it can always be worse and with a longer wait.

I still know many folks who are looking for jobs and have been out of work longer than I have and I’m going to continue to pray for y’all! I know how hard it is and I think I am more understanding and empathetic to your plight and situation, having gone through this myself.

I encourage all of you to continue to seek the Lord. Keep praying, stay focused and your eyes on the prize. Volunteer and be active in something your passionate about like I have been. That seemed to help a lot. Giving back even though you don’t have finances, you have time and there are many people who can use your time, don’t waste it.

Thank you Lord for your provision. Thank you for being a good Father to all your children and knowing that you always take care of your children in the good times and hard times. Your always faithful and you will never leave us nor forsake us. Thank you for your promises. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Using your Talents

To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability – Matthew 25:15

In SS class this past Sunday we discussed the Parable of the Talents.  2 of the 3 people used their talent and doubled it’s worth and 1 hid his talent and never used it out of fear.  The 2 that used their talents were blessed and given high praise while the 3rd was given scorn and cast out where there was weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I thought about this scripture before and it hit me then as it hits me today. How important it is to give back what you have been blessed with(For it is better to give than to receive.)  How important it is to leave a legacy of good after you leave this planet.  To use the gifts God Almighty has given you while you are here on earth.  To share and not be stingy and greedy.  To smile and encourage someone.  To leave loving impressions on people and to leave people in a better state than when you met them.

I don’t think life is meant to be a huge riddle or some hard quiz.  I think it is simple in lots of ways. The problem is us.  I think we let the world jade us to points of forgetfulness.  Where we forget to smile.  Forget to love and give and share and say “Thank You”

We must not be conformed to this world(Romans 12:2), but be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus.

If we keep our eyes on the prize(Jesus) then I think we will be able to conquer anything that comes our way. I truly believe this.

Life isn’t easy or fair.  But, to know that God himself is on our side.  To know that the creator of the Universe loves you & me and wants the best for us.  How comforting is that to know?  I know it gives me joy and happiness.  I know that no matter what happens, God loves me…Period!

We all get caught up in the daily grind.  I do too.  But, it doesn’t take me long to snap real quick and know that God is right beside me and that’s when I pray to Him and thank Him for where I am and what He has done for me and where He has brought me from.

I always pray.  I keep praying.  And no matter what God is right there listening and loving on me, wholeheartedly.

For He will never leave you nor forsake you – Hebrews 13:5

I know this to be true.  I have burned these scriptures upon my heart.  There is no lie the devil can tell me because God Himself has promised me these things and I don’t need a book in hand to remind me, for I have burned these verses upon my heart.

Take this word of encouragement from me today.  Be bold in the Lord and KNOW that Jesus loves you FOREVER!!  amen!

My soul waiteth for the Lord – Psalm 130:6

I am thankful for where I am today because of God Almighty and His loving son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, He sent to us.

Thank you Father for where you have put me in my life, from where you have brought me from and for where I am going.  I am happy and thankful for you and for what you have blessed me with and have given me.

ALL honor and praise and glory be to your Holy name Abba Father. Amen!

Be Still

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid.  Stand firm and you will

see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.  The Egyptians you

see today you will never see again.  The Lord will fight for you; you

need only be still.”  – Exodus 14:13-14

Will you be still?  Sometimes, the toughest thing that we must do is

simply be still.  In the verses above, the Israelites had been released

by Pharaoh and had been led by Moses to the edge of the Red Sea.  After

their exodus, Pharaoh changed his mind and sent his army after them.

The Israelites now stood with their backs to the sea and watched the

army approach them.  They questioned why God had delivered them from

bondage only to have them killed on the banks of the Red Sea.  God

responded to their cries by instructing Moses to charge them to be

still.  If they would simply be still, the Lord would fight for them.

We are much like the people of Israel.  When God brings us through one

storm only to find that we face another, we are quick to question Him.

Why?  Why did you lead me through the prior trial only to leave me here

to face this bigger one?  The Lord instructs us, however, to be still.

God will fight for us.  We need only be still.  Take a moment today to

consider your life.  Are you standing on the edge of the Red Sea with

the Egyptians approaching?  Remember that God wants you to be still.  I

realize that every muscle in your body wants to do something.  The only

thing you need do, however, is trust in God.  He will fight for you.

You need only be still.

Good Deeds

God has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do – Ephesians 2:10

God has a great and wonderful plan for you and for me.  He has wonderful things that He wants us to do daily.  The question is…will we answer His call to do those things??

What are we listening to or doing that keeps us from hearing what He has to say?

I was in a Bible Study last Wednesday and was truly blessed by a sister that was leading it.  We we’re going through the Lenten season preparation and studying the scriptures in regards to this season of Lent.  What she said, which is true is, when we want to spend time with God, it must be deliberate.  May not necessarily be hours, but it must be a time of focus and reflection and quiet time.  We must spend time with Him to know what He wants us to do.  We must spend time with Him to know where He is leading us. And that folks, is the toughest thing that our society today is struggling with.  We have so many outside disturbances and things to keep us busy and occupy our time, that we fail to hear what the good Lord is saying to us.

So, with that, let’s spend time daily focusing and listening to Him to see what He wants us to do. We all have our own agendas, but so does God and He wants our time and focus to be on Him as well!
