Christians can disagree on matters of faith and practice while agreeing that the world needs Jesus. Someone told Dwight Moody, the famous evangelist, “I don’t like your soul-winning methods.” Moody said, “I don’t like them much, either. What are yours?” The man admitted he didn’t have any. Moody replied, “I like mine better than yours.”

Crazy times

With all these world events, like Tsunami’s and massive earthquakes, it begs to ask, WHY?

I don’t know if I have the answer or not, but my attempt to answer is coming.

The fact that we live in a fallen world must be acknowledged. For us believers, we know this is true. The state of man and this earth is in a sinful state. The fact that this earth will go on forever is false and so is the fact that we as a race will live forever.

For some of you this might sound surprising. Fear not, though.  God is in control and there is a plan. The plan started before the beginning of time, culminating in the birth of Jesus. This plan was about the salvation of our souls for a fallen and sinful world we live in.

Fear for those of you who do, is unhealthy and is not from God. Fear not, Jesus says, for I have overcome the world. If you have accepted Christ Jesus as your Messiah, your Lord and Savior, good for you. If you haven’t and are reading this, you might be in fear. Fear of the destruction and uncertainty of the current state of the world, with all its famines, nuclear meltdowns, wars and rumors of wars.

For me, my confidence is in Jesus and God Almighty, who has overcome this world. Take comfort in knowing that God has a plan and know that this world we live in is not our home. Our home is the promise of glory in the heavenly realms and the salvation of our souls. If you have accepted Christ, you know that this life is temporary. If you haven’t, I beg of you to seriously consider your salvation and what it means for your entire future.

To accept Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and to help you overcome your fear, please read my other post on just this here.

Also, Read Romans 10:9-10.

Blessings and fear NOT!

who’s glory?

Reading a devotional today from ‘Experiencing God’ for March 18th, I found it very intriguing.  The scripture is from Psalm 50:15, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble;  I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

What beautiful and eloquent words those are and how encouraging are those words as well.  The summation of the devotional is that in times of trouble we should always turn to our Father in Heaven.  When we don’t we take away His glory and thus give ourselves the honor and one of the seven deadly sins enters into the picture–Pride.

I want to always glorify my Father in Heaven and give Him the praise, honor and glory He deserves only.

Having said that, I do fall short and fail as well, but the great thing is God is always there to pick us back up!

His mercies are new everyday, regardless of the stupid, dumb and bad things we do.  He loves us anyway and wants to help us make the right decisions and guide us in the right paths, for His name’s sake.

Therefore, in times of trouble, and at all times, let’s call upon Him and His holy name to help us, bless us, protect us, guide us and direct us in all things.

in a land of milk and honey

What is your faith and hope and trust in?  Is it money or an inanimate object that money can purchase?  I, along with many of you, have found that in these times of financial trouble, are you finding yourself asking similar questions?  Your 401(k) is going down the tubes and your investments are doing the same.  Are you worried?  Where is your hope and faith and trust placed currently?  If you are bothered and concerned about our economy, ask yourself why?  If you worried that God won’t take care of you?  Are you worried that you will have no money and lose everything?

I’m focused on God and the promises he makes to me.  That he will provide and bless as I continue to be faithful to Him and place my hope, trust and faith in Him, not monetary or inanimate objects.  I will continue to do that in the good and bad times, for where my treasure is there my heart will be also.

I am focused on my heavenly dwelling and the eventual location of my eternity, not my temporary concerns and the short life that I will live here on earth.  I will enjoy this day as long as it is called today, but I’m not worried about dying or where my final resting place will be because I know in whom I hope and trust-Jesus and His promises to all of us…his children.

where is your eternity going to be spent?

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, certain of what we do not see”  Hebrews 11:1

There are a ton of scripture references that relate to ‘Faith’, but this one is my favorite.  The hope it gives me personally is mind-blowing.  I have pondered and meditated on this verse for years now.  This will be my actual first time writing this down though.  rabbit trail:  this is why I love blogging so much.  I am able to share these thoughts that are in my head and on my heart with all of you.  What a privilege!

Anyway, I recall Jesus’ words that if we have the faith of a mustard seed that we could move mountains.  The art of Faith though is ‘practicing’ it.  You can’t say you have ‘Faith’, but never go after your dreams.  You can’t say you have faith, but never attempt to become and aspire something more or better than you are.

Another important thought is in the book of James.  “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also”  James 2:26  For me, this means exactly what I am describing above.  Faith in action is what builds your faith up, makes it stronger and produces a healthy crop for times in your life when you will need it.

Not everything is visible to us through our eyes or finite mind.  There is a lot that is unseen.  That’s called Faith.   You know that term ‘intangible’, it’s like that.  There are the intangibles in life that each of us have, but if we never tap into it and make ourselves stand out or different, those intangibles will go unseen or unnoticed.

I feel that when we press forward through tough times in our lives, that’s where we see the faith building steam in our lives.  That’s where the ‘reserves’ build up as well for times of struggle.  It’s easy to go through life without trials and tribulations.  But, what good is that for you when the tough times come and you have no faith to use or experience to help you through?  It’s in the hard times that we place our Faith in Christ to give us the strength to get through, even when we think we can’t.  He will not fail us, for He promised “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you” Hebrews 13:5

Be Blessed!
