The Blessing is around the corner

I wanted to share this with you. It’s from a guy named Vance Letbetter and he sends these daily devotionals everyday. I think you should sign up for it here and get blessed like I am being blessed.

Today’s Scripture

Then he said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat,
and you’ll get plenty of fish!” So they did, and they couldn’t draw in
the net because there were so many fish in it. John 21:6 NLT

Today’s Thought

This is another scripture that shows Jesus impacting the disciple’s
livelihood and well being. Shortly after the crucifixion, Jesus makes
several appearances to the disciples to prove that He had truly risen
from the grave and to give them hope. When Jesus first met the
disciples in Luke chapter 5 He gave them instruction after fishing all
night to go out again after catching nothing and fish deeper. When
they obeyed Him they caught so many fish that they decided to follow
Him and become disciples. They learned that day to listen to Jesus,
not to give up before the blessing and that Jesus is about abundance.
Now on this day three and a half years later Jesus continues to prove
that He is a faithful God of abundance and cares for all our needs.
Remember that just a few days prior to this day the disciples saw all
their dreams and hope seemingly die on the cross. Again they were
ready to give up. It is at that time that Jesus makes an appearance
and proves that He is who He says He is. Now once again the disciples
had been fishing all night and had nothing to show for it. No money to
pay the bills or feed the family. Jesus makes an appearance and
instructs them to fish on the other side of the boat. They obey not
knowing who He was! Perhaps the Holy Spirit on the inside told them to
trust and obey. When they raised the net it was so full again they
needed help getting it in. But it wasn’t until that moment when
their needs were met that they realized it had to be the Lord. Today
you need to know that Jesus cares about your needs and that He is a
God of abundance. He is ready to fill your nets ! Even if you have
been fishing all night and have come up empty handed you need to know
not to give up. Jesus is about to make an appearance. Like the
disciples they recognized that it was Jesus that helped them with
their financial needs, livelihood, peace and joy afterwards they
couldn’t wait to thank him and give Him praise.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, I give you honor and glory for being a faithful and
abundant God. I ask that You show me how not to give up right before
the blessing. Lord Jesus I declare Your word over my life and help me
to totally trust in You in every area of my life today and always. In
Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Spirit

“The (Holy)Spirit also helpeth in our infirmities.”  Romans 8:26

Thank you Lord, that your always with us when we fall, fail and are in times of trouble and need.  Your so good God, and we can’t help but to sing your praises all day long.

“He kneeled upon his knees three times a day”  Daniel 6:10

I don’t know about you, but kneeling three times a day is not easy to do, especially when we’re so busy running around with our busy lives.  It seems people weren’t as busy back in the day as they are now, or were they?  Did they just take more time to take care of what was more important to them than we do?  I know that I would love to spend more time with God daily in a quiet place and just be still, but finding that time and making that time and doing that time is another issue.

So, I do kneel before my Lord (most) every morning, to begin my day properly.  I don’t always at night though, which is a good habit to do, at least for me.  I find myself more humble that way when I kneel.  I find myself surrendering all to my Father in Heaven who loves me and cares for me.  All good things come from Him, why shouldn’t I kneel more and pray more, to the One who gives us all life and that abundantly.

daily study

I have completed my personal study in the morning of Philippians.  What a great book.  My favorite scripture from that book, among others, is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”  I know it’s a popular scripture that is known already, but it’s still a great and powerful one.

I am beginning a new book to study in the AM.  I am starting Hosea.  It’s in the Old Testament.  It’s basically about Hosea being led by God to marry an adulterous woman and take her as his wife.  I have read only a couple chapters of this book and have never completed it.  I am looking forward to finally reading it all the way through.

Blessings to you as you read your devotional and scriptures daily.

wednesday devotional

I wrote this little diddy for my men’s gathering today:

“-Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.”  Philippians 2:12, 13

I wanted to share a positive message today about God and His powerful Word.  I want to talk about His goodness that reigns over all our lives.  His goodness that surpasses all understanding.  His goodness that works in us to good things all over the world in every Christian around the world.

What type of things does God have us do that is good and that furthers His kingdom on earth?

I think about how often I fail to do the good I know I should do.  I also think about the good opportunities that I miss.  Encouragement is, there will be more opportunities.

I was asked to serve on an Emmaus Team that was to be held in January of this year.  I was going through some hard times personally in December and had to call the Lay Director and tell him that I had to decline my position on the team.  The walk didn’t make and the LD was asked to serve on the men’s walk in April instead.  I wasn’t asked initially to serve on that team, but last night I got a call from Robert Kent, the LD, and he asked me to be the Head Chapel position.  I was going to be the inside Table Leader, but God had better plans and I am going to be Head Chapel Servant.  I find that this position is where He wants me to be in proportion to where my life is now.  I want to iterate the aspect of how God will bring you another opportunity even when you think you don’t deserve it or think that He has forgotten about you…HE HASN’T!!!  He will pick you up and give you another chance and opportunity and enable you to still do the good for His purpose!

I believe one of many thoughts and views on working out your salvation is knowing that you will make mistakes and continue to learn in life what it means to be a Christian believer.  How hard it is to be a believer, but knowing that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Where have you found God directing you to do good in your life?  In your family, community, world?

tuesday’s good news

I received this Good Word from a brother in Christ yesterday and had to share it.  I hope it blesses you as much as it has blessed me.

Yours is the mighty power and glory and victory and majesty.  Everything

in the heavens and the earth is yours, o Lord, and this is your kingdom.

We adore you as being in control of everything.  Riches and honor come

from you alone, and you are the ruler of all mankind; your hand controls

power and might, and it is at your discretion that men are made great

and given strength.

1 Chronicles 29:11, 12

experiencing God

I took this pic with my iPhone.  I wanted to recommend this book, that has been available for years now.  The blessing from this book for me personally has been great and I wanted to share it with you.  You can pick it up at your local bookstore or half price books for under $20.  It is a daily devotional, dated for all 365 days of the year, so it never gets out of date.

March 2, 2009

I am currently studying the book of Philippians as my new morning devotional.  I encourage you to join me as I study this so we can discuss it together more.  How I go about studying the book in my morning devotional is to read a snippet of some passages and then meditate on those words I read throughout the day.  There is no rush to read it fast as it’s more about mediation than it is to complete the book.  In Chapter 1, I am mediating today on “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”

Be Blessed!
