daily bread

I read this verse this morning in my devotional in Proverbs 30 and I just really desire this for my life.

7″Two things I ask of you, O LORD;
do not refuse me before I die:

 8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.

I really desire for verse 8 in my life.  Keep lies and falsities FAR from me.  No one wants people that are going to lie to them, do they?  I surely don’t!  I expect good from people as they should expect the same in return from me.  False and fake people is something else I don’t like nor want in my life.  I have lived too long to see many people come and go in my life that are like this—be banished!

Just as important is the next line.  For me this is so true.  Lord, I don’t want to be too rich and I don’t want to have to look and be worried about my next meal either.  But please Father, give me my daily bread.  For me, I am rich compared to most of the world, but in my view, I’m middle-class, blessed with a great job at a great company.   I don’t desire to be grossly wealthy, because I might feel like I can do it all on my own or get prideful.  Too many things bad could happen, I feel, if I was very wealthy.  So, Lord, I am very content and happy with what you give me and what I have today, Thank YOU LORD!!

Have a Blessed Day!

God won’t ask

What kind of fancy car you drove….He’ll ask how many people you took to church who didn’t have transportation.

The square footage of your house….He’ll ask how many people you helped who didn’t have a house.

How many fancy clothes you had in your closet….He’ll ask how many of those clothes you gave away

Minor pondering’s for today.

Romans 1:16

I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God, the salvation of everyone who believes – Romans 1:16

The Bible is illegal in 52 countries across the globe.  That is a hard statistic to swallow, especially when you think of the day and age we are in where the clock ticked twelve midnight less than a month ago to 2009!

Really?  Illegal in 52 countries?  No way?  That is my reaction as well, but it’s true.  You can check it out for yourself at

I bring this up because I have a heart for missionaries and for getting the Gospel(good news) out to the entire world that is in desperate need of a Savior.  Everyone might not know they need a Savior, but we all do.  His name is Jesus and I love Him!

The sad part for me is that I know I don’t act the way I should all the time nor am a great witness all the time for Him, but I try and that also is the reason why I need Him.  To save me from my sins when I don’t act like I always should.  Should I continue on sinning?  By no means, states the Apostle Paul.  I should never take God’s grace and forgiveness for granted and I don’t.  But, this is the human condition from the beginning of time.  We are born into sin, live a life of sin and need forgiveness for that sin and the answer is Jesus, the perfect lamb that was slaughtered for our sakes, a propitiation if you will for that sin.

Let’s pray for the missionaries that are persecuted for their faith in Christ around the world and who are fighting to get the Gospel out into these 52 countries and others like them across the globe.  Let’s pray that God will make a way, when there seems to be no way.

There are 32,000 promises in the Bible.  Let’s remember what He says to us in that there are many things offered to us by Him, yet we forsake it.  Let’s not do that, but choose the right path that He wants for us.

my new tattoo(s)

I went last night(Friday night) and got my original cross tattoo on my left shoulder upgraded.  The original was just a plain cross and kind of small.  So, I decided to beef it up.  It looks really cool now, has points on all 4 ends along with a circle in the middle that makes it look like an Ionic cross.  The circle represents God and eternity and Him with no beginning and no end-eternal.

I then got the second tat done next.  I put this one on my left calf.  LA, in the style of the Dodgers, outlined and filled in with black.  It looks too cool!!!  The guy that did the work is named Ram and it was at a place called Outlaw Tattoo off Westheimer, if you know where that is and familiar with Houston, then you know where Westheimer is.  It’s like the Rodeo drive or Madison Ave.  just not as fancy, but popular/famous like those places.  Anywho, Ram is a perfectionist and that is what you want in a Tattoo artist, because if you get a guy who is out for the mullah only, then you might be in trouble and not get the quality that you would want in something that is PERMANENT!

I then went and had sushi around 10:30 with Steve and Rosa at Miyako’s.  Great Sushi and quick service, which is where I needed to be after almost 4 hours of talking and preparation and the completion of the Tattoo’s.  It has been several years since I had my cross tattoo done and I forgot how long it takes and the prep that goes into it, but it was all worth it.

My tattoos that I have are a representation of ME and my faith and my origins and the things I have been going through in my life.  These won’t be the last Tattoo’s I get for sure.  As they say, welcome to your new addiction!!!  TOO TRUE.

This is my crazy life and I love it!!!!!

First Amendment?

This story below really brings up questions on how much we should be concerned about the ‘GREY’ areas that are in the First Amendment, I believe.  Here’s the article:

WASHINGTON —  The government lost its final attempt Wednesday to revive a federal law intended to protect children from sexual material and other objectionable content on the Internet.

The Supreme Court said it won’t consider reviving the Child Online Protection Act, which lower federal courts struck down as unconstitutional.

The law has been embroiled in court challenges since it passed in 1998 and never took effect. It would have barred Web sites from making harmful content available to minors over the Internet.

A federal appeals court in Philadelphia ruled that would violate the First Amendment, because filtering technologiesand other parental control tools are a less restrictive way to protect children from inappropriate content online.

The act was passed the year after the Supreme Court ruled that another law intended to protect children from explicit material online — the Communications Decency Act — was unconstitutional.

The Bush administration had pressed the justices to take the case. They offered no comment on their decision to reject the government’s appeal.

Five justices who ruled against the Internet blocking law in 2004 remain on the court.  The case is Mukasey v. ACLU. 08-565.,2933,481131,00.html

What are your thoughts on this?  Does this not appall you?  It does me.  I know we must and should protect our rights to freedom of speech, but sometimes, like in this case, it really doesn’t help or work for the good of all.  What are we saying to our youth and the next generation of youth growing up?  We must protect those little ears and eyes.  If we don’t…who will?  Where is the state of the USA going to be in 20-30 years from now?  A better place or not?

is it good to give?

Scripture says this among many other verses in the Bible, “He who gives to the poor will lack nothing,
but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.
”  Proverbs 28:27

For me, this verse tells me how important it is to give and give back, not just out of your wealth, but from your heart and from your hands.

In another verse just before this one scripture states this, ” A stingy man is eager to get rich
and is unaware that poverty awaits him
.”  Proverbs 28:22

WOW!!  What knowledge, and wisdom that come from our Powerful(Omnipotent), all knowing(Omniscient) Father!!

I know that writing checks are easy and important, but let’s also give with our time and energy.

Of course and more importantly is this, to heed our Father’s warning’s is very important and as I read this, I realize how important it is to give as He tells us to.

Closed fists can’t give anything.  Open hands give all!!!

Good Word for Wednesday

If you are facing a choice today, ask yourself if your decision will result in temporary pleasures or eternal rewards. That answer will make it clear which way you should go. If you live for what is eternal, the temporary will have little appeal.

Today is no substitute for eternity.
