When I created this blog, my intentions were to build up my writing skills, share the Good News and use this as an outlet for my feelings. My ex-wife had purchased for me a calendar where you could put your thoughts daily in a book, which is where I first began a semi-journal. I found that my handwriting skills were less than perfect and I found that I wasn’t writing anything too important. I would write things like, well today I ate and place n place or I saw so and so, but not much substance. Once this blog came along, I found that I was able to type and not be worried about how I hand wrote. I was able to document things that were happening in my life of importance as well as the not so important. I can share my heart and life with others and hope that it can encourage you as well, and that is a joy.
Close to 2 years into it now and it’s real cool to look back at the many topics I have written about as well as the many changes that have occurred in my life in such a short time period. Life is like that…a box of chocolates…you never know what your going to get with the next one or the next day for that matter. How true Forrest Gump was, eh? How scary that what he said, a fictional character, was true as well. We can learn from fiction as well as truth right?!?!?! I look forward to what the next 2 years brings in my blogosphere as well as the next 20+ years. My hope is to one day write a book, which I believe at this point in my life would be a Faith based book, not sure if it would be a fiction or non-fiction book, but it’s gonna be great!
I’m finding that doing things at least once in my life, destinations around the world/sky diving/white water rafting etc., gives me joy and pleasure. I would like to continue to do these things at least once and my book that I would write will be one of those things that I do once in my life. It just might be the hardest task I ever do or maybe not. Guess maybe I should give it more thought and consideration and begin it soon, hmmm. A co-worker recently was telling me about her dreams and I started to ponder what my dreams are. I didn’t know at that moment if I really had any, but now I realize that I do, to write a book!! Please pray for me as I consider the words to write and things to say in it. One day I hope that you will see it in your local Barnes n Noble!

I found out that an old friend of mine Joel Sykes passed this last Friday. He had a massive stroke at the young age of 40. I couldn’t believe it when I heard it. He was on life support for about a day or so and they realized he wasn’t going to make it and they pulled the plug. This is unbelievable because you are not supposed to die from a stroke at the age of 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I had more another opportunity to speak with him, it’s been several years since I had. He had left our church under not so good circumstances and the last time I spoke with him was at Texadelphia where we all used to meet for lunch once a week.
He remarried and moved away with his new woman. This was unfortunate that we never had another opportunity to speak. He was such a good guy, with a big heart for God and a big passionate person for music and for life. He had a memory like an elephant and always remembered things I never could.
His funeral is Wednesday and this just makes me sad. I realize how short life is and how ‘when it’s your time, it’s your time’ & ‘there really is nothing you can do about it!’
I know he was saved and know that none of us are perfect and at least what he went through was seemingly quick and painless. He will be missed. Miss ya Joel. Sorry we never had another chance to reconnect man. I wish things didn’t turn out the way did and wish we had continued our wonderful friendship and memories we were building with our families at the time. Love you man and you will be missed!
The longer I live, I guess the more I will see people pass around me….how sad….I don’t want to live this life forever that’s for sure….

Father I pray that you will help me in my path today and everyday as I go through this life. I am pushed on every side by so many things that can be distracting. I need you to guide me and direct me so that I choose what is right and not what is temporal. I life up all my worries and concerns to you today, like every day, and all the more today. Make my spirit sensitive to you and to what you would have me do. Help me be a blessing to others as you are to me for this life is not about me. Help me Lord today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self Control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22,23

In my cubicle today, I heard some folks making some noise and saying “He jumped, he jumped!” I ran to where they were standing, looking out a window of our building, which happens to be on the 35th floor. They said that a man was on a parking garage ledge about 10 stories up and decided to jump off. I stood in shock and disbelief. Why would someone do such a thing? What would push someone to get to such a desperate place in life that they felt the only solution to their problem(s) was to jump off a high standing building?
I then started thinking about how selfish this guy was. How so many people in the world want to live!!! How so many people are sick and have diseases and cancers and the like. How this man was probably in good health, but wasn’t coping well with his issues and decided to take his life, but decided suicide was the answer… WRONG! That’s never the answer!
Then I thought about this man’s salvation. Did he know Christ Jesus? Had a Christian failed in not answering the call to share Christ with this person? Could we have changed the course of his life if someone had just reached out and cared for him? I don’t think I’ll ever know in this life time, but it’s very sad indeed.
“There is NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” – Romans 8:1
