There are many places around your city that need help right now. I know were all caught up and busy right now, but I for one am going to go to the Star of Hope Mission tomorrow and help serve. That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it. Help and servanthood is what this season is about too, so go and help some homeless people in need, you will feel better about what you did and help people in the process too.
‘Tis the Season
Christmas Week
December 22, 2008 at 11:07 am | In Holidays | Leave a Commentand it sure feels like it as it’s 30 something degrees outside here in Houston. I like it though, because it makes it really feel like Christmas. The weather I find affects me and others I think, in a way that gives you the feeling of Christmas. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas when it’s 70+ outside and sunny, ya know?
We celebrated my family’s side of Christmas last night at a Tex-Mex Restaurant called La Hacienda. It was fun and the food is good there. Funny that we decided to eat Mexican food for our family dinner Christmas celebration. Oh well, it’s all good, right?!?!?! We picked one name for our family to buy for and it’s supposed to be $100 value. That way, it is easier for all of us to buy for someone and not spend a ton of money. That’s my issue with Christmas these days, it’s too much MONEY spendin’ and not enough lovin’ going around. So, I like it this way, and I don’t feel like I’m breaking the bank when Christmas comes around anymore. Then again, I don’t have kids and I know that makes a difference too, so I understand that factor. I just don’t feel though, that you need one Big holiday to buy someone something that you ever wanted to give them.
Happy Shopping as there is only 3 days of shopping left. Merry Christmas and remember Jesus is the reason for the season!
U2

My favorite band of all time, I must say. Bono, the eccentric lead singer, is fabulous in many ways. His voice is unmistakable and the music is unmatched!
‘I still haven’t found what I’m looking for’ is a U2 classic and a must own of the U2 albums IS The Joshua Tree. They continue to evolve as a band and keep getting better if you can believe it. Some bands tend to fizzle and/or degrade in quality of music just to keep up appearance and loss of name recognition in pop culture, but not U2.
U2 has been rocking since early 80’s and are currently working on another album now. That’s 3 decades strong and with no sign of letting up either. The entire band is still together from day one to now, and that is a feet in itself these days.
They have had umpteen #1 singles, played in Superbowl half-time shows, played in almost every country around the world live in concert, have made a single for a #1 movie, made millions and all for the love of the music.
Bono, has used his influence to bring light to many illnesses and diseases around the world, including Aids, in which he is very active in bringing awareness to. I really like him and thank that in and out of the spotlight he is a consummate professional. His glasses are great as well.
I have seen them twice, but it has been over a decade since I have seen them last. The unfortunate part now is that they have such a HUGE following, that ticket prices are so expensive and hard to afford. They were here last year and nose bleed prices to see them were $600 each! YIKES! Wayyy too much for me to pay for!
So many albums and hit songs, even songs that aren’t as famous are still great! I know you love them as much as I do or at least know some of their music to at least agree on the popular songs that you have heard are great.
Their Protestant roots from Ireland and Political views are very evident in their words and music and I think that it hits a chord in all of us, one way or another. I really like and agree with most of what they say, but hey no one is perfect either right?
I love you U2!!

Psalm 23

Is one of my favorite Psalms. It gives me joy, comfort and strength in times of need. Read it and memorize it if you can. I have and I try to mix that Psalm up with the Lord’s prayer when I go to sleep every evening.
“He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies” That’s powerful! To think that God will do this for you, gives me comfort in times of trials and attacks.
“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures” This gives me joy, because I know He will give me rest when I need it the most.
“Yea though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear NO evil, for YOU are with me” This is my strength part. He’s there to support me and guide me.
Memorize this Psalm, as it will give you what it has given me for many years now-comfort, joy and strength.

war on terrorism
December 11, 2008 at 6:23 pm | In 9/11 | Leave a CommentTags: 9/11, al qaeda, arrests, Belgium, rendition, suicide bombers, terrorism, war on terror
There were recent arrests in Belgium(EU) of Al Qaeda ops. They were planning a big attack on locations in and around Belgium. Fortunately, they were caught prior to anything horrible occurring. The story can be read here.
What we must realize is that Belgium is against the war in Iraq and has no presence there(troops wise) and yet terrorist are planning attacks on that country ANYWAY!!!. What this tells me is what I’ve always known. Terrorist don’t care and will attack and kill anyone, anywhere at anytime. The worst part is that the ‘Old’ men that know better brain-wash the young men into suicide bombers. They use tactics like poverty, unfortunate circumstances to family members and even their country to persuade them to “martyrdom’ in the name of Allah(God in Arabic).
I watched a good movie last night that dealt with some of these issues, from both sides of the situation. The current post 9/11 world we live in and terrorism as a reality, everywhere and in EVERY country around the Globe. The movie is called ‘Rendition’. The movie starts off slow, but it captivates you in a very short period of time. I would recommend watching it to get a good perspective from both sides of the War on Terror.
I must say that I can’t believe we haven’t caught a 6′5, long bearded man on dialysis yet??? Why is that? This world is too small for us not to catch a man like that. Amazing.
I hope that we as humans living together in this world, can fight together as ONE and bring an end to terrorism. This is EVERYONE’S fight, not just the USA or Belgium, but everyone. Solidarity against terrorism is the only way!
SNOW

Last night, December 10th, 2008, it snowed in Houston, Texas. Wow! It hasn’t snowed here in 4 years and what we consider ’snow’ is a laughing stock for those in the North and East Coasts. It was real cold and the white all over cars and shrubbery was really neat to look at. We don’t see this type of weather here in H-town too often, so when we do, it’s something special. Stay warm!
Here’s a friend’s picture of a ‘miniature snowman’
