Christian Iraqi’s

After watching this video, it saddens me to hear and see about the displacement of many Iraqi Christians. They have left Iraq for fear of their lives as they have received death threats. Many have been murdered in Iraq itself. Persecution of Christians is still rampant throughout the world, especially in Iraq today.
Christianity has it’s roots strong in the middle east, including Iraq where the tower of Babel was built from in the Book of Genesis as well as believed to be the location of The Garden of Eden. Yet today, there is no place for home in this country for believers. The Christian people have fled to Lebanon, my father’s country of origin. Lebanon has a diverse and welcomed culture of diversity. Christians and Muslims live side by side, city by city. Thus, the reason for these folks to flee as refugees to Lebanon. Let’s pray they find a home and make a living there. I do know that jobs are not rampant and the economy is not in great shape as my family tells me. But life and freedom is better than death and living in fear. To see and hear this saddens me.
In 2008, we still have death because of religion. The worse part is, if it were the other way around, the Muslim world would up-rise and call for Jihad against any travesty of death or persecution to Muslim’s. Something is wrong with this picture!
Then again, Jesus told us we would be persecuted even to the point of death for our faith, yet we still strive for the higher goal and calling that is find in:
THE ONE AND ONLY, OUR PRECIOUS AND BEAUTIFUL, LOVING, HOLY, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, JESUS THE CHRIST, THE MESSIAH, THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, THE BEGINNING AND THE END, WHO DIED ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS.
don’t work too hard
October 28, 2008 at 8:50 am | In Proverbs, money | 1 CommentTags: covet, God, Jesus, jobs, lifestyle, love, money, Proverbs 23:4, rich, work
In today’s society in America, there seems to be a need to work more hours and get multiple jobs. But, the question is for what? Why? What is the reason, purpose or desire for this?
The answer typically is, to afford a more expensive lifestyle, to pay for the things that are out of your ‘means’ and believe the lies we all see on TV ad commercials!!! or the proverbial keeping up with the Jones’
Could it be, that we all have bought into this fraudulent lie that we all need to have the newest cars, the best homes and most expensive clothes?
Scripture tells us this, “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint“ Proverbs 23:4
My interpretation of this verse is like don’t kill yourself to get rich or have multiple jobs to keep paying bills for things you can’t afford. Why did you buy them in the first place?
I also think that we should test our motives and find out why we’re trying to get rich. Why do you want to get rich? Are you jealous of others? Are you coveting your neighbors things and think you deserve those things too?
I am not saying that God doesn’t like us to be rich. I am focusing more on the ‘wear yourself out’ part. Ultimately, in the BIG picture of things(I’m a Big picture guy), when your lying on your death bed…are you thinking about how much more money you could have made or wishing you bought another car or regretting that you didn’t spend enough hours in the office??? I think Not and hope Not.
Life is more than a job or getting rich or buying things. I believe that the best things in life are free. Jesus, The Ocean, Love, Children, Trees/Foliage, Health and Happiness.
Chuck Colson

I thought I would share some thoughts on different Pastors whom have Integrity and reputable history. Among them are Chuck Colson. He of course has a shady career early in his life, but through the Grace of God was able to overcome it and become a leading Theologian of current day. He, like others, is being used by God to share the Gospel. He reminds me of many characters in the Bible with character flaws, that we all have and share.
Chuck Colson
BreakPoint
Twenty-five years ago, Charles W. Colson was not thinking about reaching out to prison inmates or reforming the U.S. penal system. In fact, this aide to Richard Nixon was “incapable of humanitarian thoughts,” according to the media of the mid-seventies. Colson was known as the White House “hatchet man,” a man feared by even the most powerful politicos during his four years of service to President Nixon. When news of Colson’s conversion to Christianity leaked to the press in 1973, the Boston Globe reported, “If Mr. Colson can repent of his sins, there just has to be hope for everybody.” Colson would agree. He admits he was guilty of political “dirty tricks” and willing to do almost anything for the cause of his president and his party.
Chuck Colson is considered one of America’s leading authorities on the causes of and responses to crime. He has addressed nearly half the state legislatures in America and has met with a majority of governors. He is a syndicated columnist and has contributed articles to magazines and newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune. Colson provides a daily radio commentary to a weekly listening audience of three million people and is a sought-after speaker. Born Again, Colson’s first book, was published in 1976 and became an international bestseller. Since then, he has written 37 other books, whose royalties he donates to Prison Fellowship. Chuck’s latest book, “How Now Shall We Live?” released in summer 1999, equips Christians to articulate the truth of the gospel, live it accordingly, and give a defense of the truth to unbelievers.
missing the gospel

The term Gospel means “Good News“ I always repeated this phrase to my Sunday School kids I taught at Church. I love the fact that sharing the Gospel to a lost world means that your sharing “Good News“
In a recent news article there is a young lady that is still in college here in the states and decided to go to Iran to visit family and whilst she is there, to write a report on the lack of women’s rights in that country. She was found out by the authorities and was subsequently arrested by the police in a traffic stop. She is currently sequestered and unfortunately, it’s going on 10+ days she has been held in captivity without a means for release. Let’s pray she is freed soon and can share her experience with the world. She is not the only one in Iran who has been treated unfairly this way, it’s been going on for decades! In recent years has the news of government oppression towards women and the fact that anyone who speaks against the government has been coming to light.
You can find that anywhere in the world where the Bible, Jesus and Christians are either oppressed, outlawed or punished/imprisoned, you will find a lack of Freedom. Iran is such a state. As well as many other countries in the world as well. Saudi Arabia, China and other countries as well. Even though the perception of freedom is there, the lack of religious freedom is oppression of the worst kind.
My point is: where Jesus is not found, you will find serious tyranny and oppression! Where the Bible is outlawed you will see Government’s trying to control the people. Why is that? I believe that the Bible opens eyes to freedom! I believe that truths throughout scripture open hearts and minds to things that were not thought of or believed in or even conceived. I believe Jesus brings fear to those who oppose Him. Even the demons shudder!
Let’s pray for freedom, religious REAL freedom, comes to Iran and to the rest of the countries around the world. Let’s keep these countries and people in our prayers. The Bible League has an excellent ministry to spread the Gospel and Bibles to regions where persecution is rampant. You can read here about the places around the world specifically.
intrinsic evil

I just read a great article from Father Jonathan Morris. His article highlights many points, including racism, abortion and the right to be heard in a public forum. I really thought this article is a direct and poignant point to current issues that face our country that should not be given to public opinion or that any party has a ‘lock’ on morality. Morality isn’t up for debate and neither is the right to life.

I recently realized that I have been blogging now for a hair over a year. I had to write this to commemorate this fact. I truly find blogging completely fulfilling. I enjoy it extremely. I must say that I want to write a book one day and blogging is my test. If I can continue to blog successfully for a long period of time, then I must be able to come up with a great theme for a book and write it. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
So, here’s to those who have been blogging for a long time and a short time…happy blogging and cheers!

I found out today that all 50 states have a link to their state for you to search and see if you have any missing property or moneys that are for you and are currently unclaimed. Go check it out for yourself in your home state here. Beware, you will have to provide factual evidence that the person is you, so don’t try to cheat the system.

sharing the gospel

To most of us that live in the free world where we can share Jesus with others without fear of being killed or even being punished for it. Here is a sad story of a young lady, 34, that paid the ultimate price for sharing her faith with a lost Muslim world. God Bless you Gayle Williams, another Christian Martyr. Let’s remember that she is in Heaven with our Abba Father now, praising Him, so we must rejoice over her life as well!
breast cancer awareness month

I want to keep the awareness out there, that October is “Breast Cancer Awareness” month. There was the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure that just happened a couple weeks ago. Great read story about Susan G. Komen. Also, another great site for Breast Cancer Awareness is “Pink for October“
The reason I am bringing this to light, is that my wife, Angie Jean, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. Thank God she has survived it, through chemotherapy, and multiple surgeries over a 2 year period. Today she is healthy, with a full head of hair(that is getting long too) and is very positive about the outlook of our future. She donated her hair to the “locks of love” foundation prior to the chemotherapy treatments. This year has been a real good year for both of us as we have traveled the globe, to London, Paris and Italy. We are both grateful that this is behind us, but never forgetting those who are still being diagnosed with cancer daily and those who live with it daily as well.
Let’s pray that there is a Cure in our horizon.
