to whom much is given…

To whom much is given, Much is required.  How does that statement make you feel?

For me it is a powerful statement.  For one, it makes me think about the things I currently have and are blessed with.  Wife, pets, family, job and tangible items.  All of these things were given to me and I must be a good steward of these things.  In other words, I have to take care of these people, things, items and be responsible.  That’s a lot to ask of one person, yet we are called to this.  I believe that the more responsible we are with the blessings of all the above the more that we will be given a bigger portion to take care of.

What happens when we fail though?  Let’s face it, we all fall short and fail from time to time.  Even daily at times.  Yet we must persevere through the failings, the trials and tribulations that come our way…daily.

I think about the things that God has given me and I know that I have failed in the past and continue to fail today with family relationships, with friends that come in and out of my life.  It’s a hard task to be put to, isn’t it?

I will continue to persevere and try with God’s help to be the best man I can be.  For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and that’s how I can become better with the responsibilities that I have been given, even though I fail at times.  Father Forgive Me!

In the daily calendar I was given a couple years ago from the “Prayer of Jabez”, a day stood out to me that I keep posted up on my wall in my office and it reads:

The further you go in your journey, the more protection from temptation matters.  Several factors combine to put you at greater risk:  Your decision, example and influence affect more people;  Your opportunities may leave you spiritually, physically and emotionally depleted;  Your successes in significant ministry may convince you that you are less vulnerable instead of more;  Your accountability to God is greater.
