happy days

The weather is beautiful here in Houston. We broke a record for how cold it was last night, which I don’t mind at all. It was only like 50 something, but that’s cold for Tejas this time of year. The temp now is like high 70’s and I’m LOVIN’ it! It’s real nice having a convertible too when the weather is like this. Just drop the top and go for a ride, kinda weather.
So, I have classes this week for work and it’s been an information overload as the typical classes go, but my company is an Acronym freak. I guess that’s where I get my acrostic/acronym behavior from?!?!?!?!?! I’m learning a lot and I also like not having to do REAL work while in class as well. It’s nice and a change of pace too.
Me and the wifey are very excited as we have about 2 weeks until we go on vacation to Italy. I’m so stoked and excited about it. We have been wanting to do this since we got married 9 years ago. It’s been a long vacation in the works for sure. We never really had a huge vacation like this one ever and after the last 2 years of cancer hell, it’s gonna be worth the wait and the pain we went through. I’m so glad that happy days are here again.
Have a Happy Day!
long week

Wow, TGIF!! I can’t believe it is finally here. It has been a long week. I got my first sinus cold in my life. At least I think that’s what it was. I’m feeling better today, finally. I’ve been tired and unfocused. But, I have been able to get through this week with His help for sure!
I have been finding myself in a little debate with a Catholic brother recently, in which I found myself enjoying the volleys back and forth as to what I believe and what he believes. It has been fun and exciting. What I found most enjoyable for me is searching the scriptures to find what I truly believe in and that reinforced into my heart of hearts. I enjoy lively debate and this has been one of enjoyment and soul searching for sure. Thanks simplesinner!
I hope I feel better next week and am able to refocus, I can’t stand being sick or semi-sick and even tired. Have a great weekend!
95th Thesis

I wanted to share with you all Martin Luther’s 95th Thesis and I would ask you all to read it in it’s entirety. It’s a fabulous document that changed the Church Forever…and for the good and better of the Church I might add.
I will continue to preach Unity in the Body of Christ on not division. I believe Martin Luther saw a grievance in the Church and spoke out against it as we are called to do in the body of Christ. As my brother from CARM(link to the right side) wrote in a response to a question about wether we can make judgements or not, he said, “Can we make judgments? Yes we can. I judge lying to be wrong. I judge murder to be wrong along with stealing, adultery, and abortion. It does not mean that we cannot make spiritual judgments.
1 Cor. 2:14-15 says, “But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man.” The word “appraised” is anakrino. It means to examine, judge, ask questions, search, and discern. So, we are able to make spiritual judgments.
When you make yours, do so without hypocrisy and in a manner consistent with Scripture.
Indulgences were wrong in Martin Luther’s time and still are today. The Cross and Jesus’ sacrifice tore the curtain down from top to bottom from the Holy of Holies. This enabled us to come to Christ directly and ask for forgiveness for our sins. For us to come to Christ with all of our problems and issues and not for some human being to say your forgiven, “For who is man that I should be mindful of Him declares the Lord?”
Be Blessed!
The Pope reconsiders Martin Luther

The Pope reconsiders Martin Luther « LiturgicalCredo.com’s Blog
Read the above article first before reading my comments below, PLEASE!
There was a the article above and then some comments below. I had to reply with my thoughts and felt that this was the beginning of a good blog post.
My view is that even though I go to a Methodist Church, I am first a believer in Jesus Christ, God The Father and the Holy Spirit. I just happen to go to a Methodist Church and in that, I go there because Jesus is alive and well there. The Holy Spirit is very Active and moving and working. I believe in the Bible and it’s infallibility, not any man, for we all fall short of the Glory of God and all have sinned, period. The fact that my church has a Traditional service and a Contemporary service(which I go to
) is evident that we have a good mix of people that worship differently and my church has recognized that and created the contemporary services. Jesus never stated the need for a hundred different denominations, He just wanted people to have the faith of a mustard seed. As Pastor Larry stated this past weekend in one of his talks on an Emmaus weekend, “the Devil just comes into the church and starts asking questions like, the bread really isn’t the REAL body of Christ is it?” Thus begins the separation of believers into a sort of ‘faction’ group of people that allowed division to come in. Anyway, my response below to the post and read the previous comments to mine as well if you can.
The song we sang this past weekend that I’m sure is an old timey hymnal goes like this, “One Bread, One Body, One Lord of All, One cup of Blessing which we Bless, and we though many, throughout the earth, we are ONE body in this ONE LORD”
Luther was a Great man of God and saw the truth. Thank God for Luther and what he did. His 95th Thesis is spot on. Indulgences were heresy and so is the fact that the pope is ‘infallible’
Christ died for all and to all whom believe in Him are CHRISTians…period. There is no Catholic or Protestant Church…it’s One Church.
Read Ephesians 2:8, 9 & 4:4, 5
Where is the Church anyway? is it in the Vatican? Is is only your church with walls that you worship in on Sundays and maybe Wednesday’s? The Church, in my humble opinion, is the Body of Believers all over the world, not encompassed by walls, but by souls, anywhere and everywhere.
There is a need, I do believe, for different denominations across the world, that enable you to worship alike in a corporate environment, but to say that Catholics or Protestants is what Jesus intended…I’m not so sure. Man gets in the way, but God’s plans and will overcome ultimately.
confused
April 23, 2008 at 12:41 pm | In unbelief | 1 CommentTags: c.s.lewis, confused, earth, Father, global warming, Jesus, science, the life, the truth, the way
So, all we have been hearing about is how hot the earth is getting and the whole ‘global warming’ thing. Well, on foxnews this am, I was reading a very interesting article about how one scientist has been studying our planet and found that our earth has gotten colder in the past year and that the earth is at the 1930’s level of temperature.
Is anyone confused or is it just me? How do we believe in what anyone says in the scientific community? Why are there soooo many schools of thought on how hot the earth is getting or how cold the earth is getting? Why isn’t there any TRUTH out there that is Factual or is it a political agenda for people to contort the truth? Is there global warming or isnt’ there? there can’t be 2 Truths!!!
One fact is, that science is continually evolving and thus there can’t be true hard facts. Another fact is, there are basic fundamental science truths that are certain, i.e. laws of motion(newton), laws of physics, periodic table of elements.
But, when it comes to something that is truly profound, there seems to still be doubters out there. The fact that Jesus walked this earth is a foregone conclusion of truth…but there are still doubters(not many of you left thankfully) Then there is the truths about who Jesus says He is. “I and the Father are one” John 10:30 and “The Father is in me and I in the Father” John 10:38
Now given the previous statement Jesus made about himself. there can be only 2 conclusions. He is either who He says He is(the Truth) or He is a nutjob(crazy) and has totally lost his mind. Your answer will be an everlasting one. What say YOU? You can’t say He was a good person and not believe in whom He says He is. As C.S. Lewis stated, “That option wasn’t open”
“I am the Way and the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father but by me” John 14:6
He raised me up

“He brought me out of the miry clay, out of the slimy pit and set my foot upon the rock and established my goings” Psalm 40:2, paraphrased
This scripture reminds me of me. This is how I felt like I was when I was lost at age 24. I was in the depths of the biggest hole I had ever been in. I was destitute, with no place to call home. I needed a change and I needed it quickly. I was going nowhere Fast and I was hurting inside, missing loved ones and missing peace and joy.
God reached out to me in my mom and gave me a chance to start over. It was God working through my mom to get me home and back in the ‘fold’. I felt that I was in a slimy pit, But now my goings are established and it is all because of Jesus and His Grace and Mercy!
I once was lost but now I’m found. My chains are gone, I’ve been set free, My God My Savior has ransomed me, and like a flood His Mercy reigns, unending love AMAZING GRACE!!

Emmaus_Walk #45
April 21, 2008 at 7:49 am | In emmaus | 1 CommentTags: Caleb, emmaus, God, HNEC, Israel, Jesus, numbers 13, pilgrim
Well, I can’t believe it, but this past weekend was the culmination of the Emmaus Walk #45 for HNEC. What a glorious weekend it was too. The Lord was Praised and glorified!
I served as a Table leader and the name of our Table was Caleb. I chose this name from the Bible because of the good report that Joshua and Caleb brought back from the land of milk and honey that the Lord told the people of Israel to go and take and inhabit(Numbers 13). I always admired Joshua and Caleb for their good report in spite of what others said and there were 10 others that did not bring back a good report.
The weekend started off slow as all weekends do and by Friday afternoon my table and the whole group were beginning to gel, like the 36 pilgrims had known each other for years! How great is our God!
I gave a talk on Saturday morning, which is the 6th talk of the weekend, “Growth Through Study” was the title of the talk. It was real hard getting started because of the time and emotions that are invested in the talk. I believe it’s the same for everyone that gives a talk as well. I enjoy speaking in front of large crowds and find it a liberating experience. I think the pilgrims understood by the conversations the rest of the weekend, that study is an important piece of the Christian walk with Christ.
I shed many a tear along with the rest of the team and pilgrim’s. One quote from the weekend by a pilgrim Joel was “I’m dehydrated from all the tears from the weekend” Praise God! Men and crying, it’s not something you see everyday. It’s great to know that the Lord is and will continue to work in these men’s lives and hopefully, this past Emmaus weekend has something to do with their closer walk with Jesus.
