Christian acronyms/acrostics


There are a thousand acronyms/acrostics that go through the Christian circles.  I thought it would be fun to share the ones that I know and would like to hear your own that you know that aren’t listed as well.  So here it goes:

GRACE: God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense

FROG:  Fully Relying On God

PUSH:  Pray Until Something Happens

BIBLE:  Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

WWJD:  What Would Jesus Do

Please share yours if you have one or more, I would love to hear them and love to share them with others as well.

    So glad you stopped by this afternoon. I went at least 3 different times this weekend to add you to my blog roll and never did… So I’m off to do that now!

    First i wanted to share this with you. I spoke at a Womens Retreat on my abortions several years ago and came up with this Acrostic (?)

    FREE=

    F- Forgiveness. Accept it! Romans 4: 7 & 8
    R- Release. Release what bonds you! Acts 27: 40
    E- Expect. Know that you WILL experience temptations and
    Trials. James 1: 2-4
    E- Equip. Prepare yourself with Gods word. 2 Tim 3: 16&17

    I remembered a new one. It’s a radio station here in Houston and their call letters are and here are a few more that I remember and keep adding to this “comment” field. Enjoy and USE them as you think about them or keep running them through your mind over and over like I do. 🙂

      That last acrostic BUSY is wrong according to the bible because the bible says to keep busy so that ye not be idle.

        well, I believe you have to rightly divide the word here. It’s Correct “If you are too busy to do God’s work…. then you’re too busy and under satans yoke.
        However, IF you are Busy working in the Vineyard, the you are BUSY and are instread Being Under the Savior’s Yoke and that is indeed God’s Plan and we are a workman that needs NOT Be Ashamed. So I agree, you are wise to make that point. God Bless.

        Our Pastor uses the acrostic of Bound Under Satan’s Yoke for busy because, although we are to “be about the Father’s business,” we are not to be busy with earthly matters.

        Being to busy for Christ is not biblical. It is being under satan’s yoke. Think about how much time you spend, commuting, online, on facebook, playing with your Ipad, shopping, hanging out with friends, dinner meetings for work, ect. Life had WAY to many distractions that keep us from living life the way Christ would have us live! How much time do you volunteer? How much of our money do we tithe, or are we to busy with work and we forget and we’ll do it next week?

        Our Pastor’s acronym (?) for REVIVAL is as follows:

        Repentance
        Excitement
        Victory
        Involvement
        Vision
        Ambition
        Liveliness

    Happened by chance on your site, while looking for one I heard about DUCK (I can’t remember the first two letters, but CK was Christ the King)

    At my church, they have dubbed me the “acronym queen” so I thought I’d share a few I came up with.
    JUMP = Jesus Understands My Problems FAITH = Firm Acclaimations Invoking the Holy Spirit
    TRUTH = The Real Union To Him SHOUT = Share Hallelujahs Orally Unto Triumph
    I can’t stand the word luck but this makes it more bearable
    LUCK = the Lord’s Unchanging Care and Kindness
    My personal favorite- BREATHE = Believe Righteousness Eventually Arrives To Handle Everything.

    On my last team service for Emmaus, a brother in Christ had this acronym on his shirt which I thought was real cool too…

    OBEDIENCE
    UNDIGNIFIED
    DELIGHT

    Psalm 98:4 was the referenced scripture too. Enjoy.

    I hear that FEAR one in AA all the time, so here are some others they have:
    EGO = Edging God Out
    FEAR = Failure Expected And Recieved
    HELP = His Ever Loving Presence
    LET GO = Leave Everything To God, Okay?
    LIFE = Living in Faith Everyday

    This is a mnemonic to pray the way Jesus taught us to in the Lord’s Prayer:
    PRAY = Praise, Repent, Ask (pray for others), You (pray for yourself)

    Here are some I just made up:
    BREAD = Bible Reveals Every Answer Daily
    CROSS = Christ Relieves Our Shame and Suffering/Sin and Suffering
    WAYWARD = Why Are You Waiting And Risking Death?! <—- by far the best

    btw, the GOSPEL one is genius!

      OOps! The acrostics for hope didn’t print like it appeared on my screen. I had 3 of them but the way they ran together with the one for Faith makes it hard to read.

    Hi,
    My children’s church is dividing, and our main name is Kid Connection.
    However, I want to come up with 2 names. 1 for the 4-6 year olds and 1 for the 7-11 year olds. I want to somehow make them connect, because it’s called Kid Connection.
    the 4-6 year olds are tentatively going to be called:
    J.A.M. : Jesus and Me
    I’m not sure which direction to go with the older ones.
    Maybe P.O.W.E.R.

    because Humbly I Serve is a great one; but you might also use “Halleujah, I’m Saved”
    Or “Happiness Is Salvation.”

    Here is an acronym I made up for Scrooge. He was miserable and had no joy, peace or happinesss in his heart. He needed Jesus in his heart.

    SCROOGE >>> Satan-Came-Rooted-Out-Our-God-Evil (now reigns)

    Scripture say’s the enemy is as a theif and a robber. He comes to steal, kill and destroy.

    I am teaching a 2nd through 5th grade class and need a acrostic for “sin”. This is what I have so far Self Inflicted Nonsense, but I’m not sure the kids will know what the words mean, so I’m looking for something more kid-friendly.

    Hello friends, I will be starting a youth program on Wednesdays right after school and before our Wednesday night meal and Kids Time for our Wednesday Night Fusion.     We are starting up a new mission outreach in our church. We want to provide care for children with special needs. As a mother of a child with special needs I know how hard it is to leave her in a regular nursery with her seizures and autism (and many other things). We want other parents of special needs children to feel safe leaving their child with us while they are able to attend church. We are looking for an acronym to use as the name for our group that works for boy or girl no matter if they are a toddler or school age. The meaning of the acronym must have meaning to the parents that we believe ALL people are welcome in God’s family. Thanks for any ideas you may have!

      Here is one way to spell REVIVAL. R =Repentance- Nothing between us and God.
      E =Expectation – Expectant FAITH believing things will happen
      V =Vision –Vision of people perishing, and giving them Jesus as Life-line
      I =Involvment–Get all members of the body of Christ involved
      V =Visitaion -go into highway’s & Byways and Invite lost, unconcerned to come

    I’m looking for an Acronym for our First Day School. One that we are kicking around is CALM (Children And the Life of the Meeting). We are Quaker so we use the term “Meetng” instead of “Church”. We really like the concept of CALM but the word “CALM” just does not reflect children, particularly the younger ones. Would live ideas.

    our youth group is called storm-serving the one real master. we need names for the rest of our student ministrys that goes with storm. we need birth-2yrs’ 3ys -3rd grade, 4-6thgrade and college ministry. anything would be helpful. thaks

      not sure if it’s related but could you use FIRE? that would be Focusing Intently on Reaching Everyone.

      maybe after all the water-related coming up in the training, by the time they reach college-age they’d be ready for something different. just a thought. . .

      You can line up letters from John 3:16 to spell out VALENTINE. Not sure about “Day.” I’m sure someone has one though. People on this site tend to be quite the creative ones. 😉
