Muzaffar

I know a friend of mine that worked for Texaco for 20+ years and retired early, gave up his home and all of his worldly belongings and him and his wife moved to Osh, Kyrgyzstan to become missionaries. That was over 6 years ago. Wow how time flies. Anyway, they write periodically about how things are going for them and what they are up to and about recent events.
So, they sent an email to everyone as they usually do, and told of a story about a young man named Muzaffar who is a missionary himself, and works for Campus Crusade for Christ. The story was that he was in need of serious funding for his missions and that he was reaching out to us to help support him. I of course responded and gave. The awesome thing now is that I am receiving emails from him now periodically and felt that I had to share his testimonies with you all. I am going to paste a recent email below and share it with you. Please keep in mind that his English isn’t perfect, so work with the writing of what he’s intending to say. Keep them all in your prayers! Blessings:
Winter evening, there is no snow but in spite of very cold. I came back to home from students meeting and decided to go to gum. Usually in the evening the gum full. Most of them youth: high school and college students. At the gum I met one guy. He was about twenty years old, thin and his yes were sorrowful. He was doing excises not correct and without any interest. I came to him and told that how important to do correct an excises on bodybuilding. And showed him how to do correct some excises. By the way I introduced myself and asked his name. His name was Zalckar, junior student of Juridical Academy. After gum we were walking together. I asked him about his family, his hobbies and why he decided to be a lawyer? He started telling me that he is oldest son in his family and was grew up at grand fathers family. When he was about 16 years old he has return to his own family. His parents last five years are living in Kazakhstan. “About my hobbies, nothing is interesting me now. I have not been at college almost three months. The life is not interesting for me and I do not have a hope even. You know, the reason is my little brother died recently. He made suicide. I don’t know why he has done it. As an older son I would to watch over him. I gilt myself on his death… Almost three months I do not go to outside, I’m just sitting at home, I do not want to talk with people… Recently I started to come to gum”. The death of his little brother was a reason of his yes sorrow. Zalckars word: “The life is not interesting for me and I do not have a hope even”- touched my heart deeply. I started thinking: “I have a hope and my hope is Christ”. At that moment I turned to Zalckar and told: “Jesus Christ is the Hope for all and of course for you too. I don’t know why God let it happen in your life but He has a plan about your life. God is good. I want to pray for you”. Through all my way to home I prayed for Zalckar. When I came to home I shared with my roommate about Zalckar and we were praying for him asking the Lord to consulate him, give a hope… The Lord put into my heart to pray a lot for Zalckar. I started spend a time with Zalckar after gum. He often comes to my place and we played games with other brothers and just hanging out. I figure out that he has not laughing even difficult to find a smile on his cheek. A little brother death was painful for him. I kept going to pray for him and asked pray my Bible study group. Once I have inviting him to Bible study group he has come.
Many times I shared Gospel with him. It was a difficult to understand for him that Christ is God. Each time we talked about spiritual thing: Gods love, end of the time, why there is a lot of religion… Every time when I’ve been inviting him to the church he refused. Three months passed. Once I met him at the supermarket he was working there. I was glad for him that he has found a job. It was a little hope for me that Zalckar started interesting with something…In June I haven’t seen him about three weeks. I called him and his aunt told me that he in the hospital and he is sick. When I got an address of the hospital I went there. When he saw me he was wonder. He has catch a cold and something happened with his lungs and doctors were taking out water from his lungs. He told me: “This summer I was planning to go to Kazakhstan to visit my parents. But now I’m sick. I’m so young and sick”. I prayed for his health and went home.Once after Bible study group I have talking again with Zalckar about Christ more than the three hours, beginning from Genesis till Revelation. He has asking a lot of questions and also listening very carefully. At the end I asked him why he doesn’t want accept Christ as Lord and Savior? He responded that the reason is his parents. He was afraid of their reaction if he will become a Christian and also that his is not ready for now. But for me it was very interesting to see our influence for him. Because often when we were around unbeliever guys Zalckar was telling about Gods love and mercy. Most of his behaviors were if he was a believer. In October we had a student conference and we decided to invite him. I explained him the goal of the conference and he decide to go to conference. On the conference he was wonder when he saw a lot of Christian students from with their Muslim background and from almost whole Central Asia. He asked them why they are become a Christian? How was theirs parent reaction? We had time to share Gospel on the conference and he came to us and sad that he also wants to go to share Gospel. At the end of conference we called Zalckar to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior and he did. Hallelujah!!! Praise the Lord! I was full of joy, almost cry. I told to him: “I prayed a lot to see this day and I had a hope for this”. He sad: “I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior but I’m not sure that He accepted my invitation”. I told him that Lord accepts everyone who calls His name and prayed for Zalckar. Now together we going through follow up materials. When I told him how important to attend a church he goes to the church almost every week. I’m so thankful to the Lord that He gave to him a hope and joy and used us as an instrument in His hand. Recently we had with church youth evangelical meeting and I was sharing my testimony. There were some unbeliever guys and one of them pointing to the Zalckar and other unbeliever guys sad: “Christ not for us I mean for Muslim”. “Christ for everyone!”,- loudly responded Zalckar. Could you, please, pray for Zalckars spiritual growth? On each prayer meeting he asks to pray for that. His parent doesn’t know about his faith, please, pray for the day and hour when he will tell them. Also for his health and that our mighty God will protect him from any kind of evil. Thank you for being a part of my ministry. I appreciate it. Serving with you… Muzaffar.
world vision

My wife and I have adopted our second child through a great organization named ‘World Vision‘ You can sponsor children and ‘adopt’ them from all over the world. Our first child we adopted was named Hannah. She lived in Israel. We would get yearly report cards on how she is doing in school and we would send her birthday cards. She got up in age eventually and so we have adopted another child. His name is Ariel. He lives in Mexico and is 6 years old. We have his picture and he is the cutest thing. Anyway, I wanted to say that if you feel led to adopt a needy child from somewhere around the world, that this organization is a non-profit org that has a great reputation and helps all over the world to those in need.
Christmas

There is a special day of the year that celebrates Jesus’ birthday and that day is December 25th. This is a very special day for Christians worldwide. Most Americans celebrate this day too. The unfortunate thing about this special day is that it has become a consumer frenzy and a loss of what the true meaning of this day is. The real reason for the season is JESUS…period. When I was a child it was nice to get gifts and stuff. It still is for those young ones and for those without. But now that I’m older, it’s not so important to receive gifts anymore. I can pretty much buy anything that I want myself and I do throughout the year. I appreciate nice tokens or gestures of love through gifts, but to give a gift just because, I find is not so necessary for me anymore.
There is a real cool video that is from family life that I want you to check out. It definitely shares my sentiments. What’s up with this whole ‘Holiday’ stuff anyway. People are SO Politically Correct these days that they can’t even say “CHRISTmas” anymore. That bothers me a whole lot and we need to speak up as a people and say that it’s CHRISTMAS and not just ‘x-mas’ or a ‘holiday’ Holiday parties and Holiday gifts and holiday this and that…AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Bring back CHRISTmas and bring back the REAL REASON FOR THE SEASON….JESUS!!
Here is the link to the family life video.
giving blood

I had posted over a month ago about how I had been given a blood transfusion over 21 years ago and it was my special duty to give back. Well, today I gave double-red blood cells. This was my 4th time giving blood this year and I am glad and proud to be able to give back. I usually give whole blood, but today my was first time to give double-red blood cells. It took about 30 minutes of my time to do and that went by quickly. Usually to give whole blood it only takes about 15 minutes. On average, you can give blood about 4 times a year and I was able to accomplish that this year..YEAH!!!
My advise is that if you can give blood or if you never tried to before…DO IT!! It’s really gratifying to give back and know that you helped to save as many as 4 lives because of your selfless act. Have a Great Day!!!
food

What’s your favorite type of food?
Mine has to be ALL kinds and types of food. I will have to say that there are some things I don’t like or won’t continue to eat. I consider myself an open-minded individual, but there are some things I just don’t enjoy. I love arabic food or course, because I’m of Arab decent. Tabbouleh, Hummus, Shawarma’s and Kifta(meat on a skewer) are some of my favorite Arab dishes. I also love Italian food. The many different types of pasta(angel hair and penne are my faves), the meatballs in spaghetti(or do you prefer meat sauce?), the fococcia bread, Italian herbs and spices, olive oil. What about TEX-MEX. I know I love Mexican food, but must qualify it to TEX-MEX, because all the other Mexican food out there doesn’t quite compare. I want my Mexican greasy and delicious. Not pretty and pretentious without much taste or flavor, which is what I find in other states that serve Mexican.
We eat out probably 3-5 times a week, depending on how much we can control ourselves. It seems to be tough to stay at home and eat every evening versus going out. I like to eat out and in Houston, there are a thousand restaurants within walking distance and all are pretty good too!
So, tell me…what’s your favorite type of food and why?
cars

I am totally enthralled with them! I love cars! All kinds of cars. I currently own an SLK 230 made by Mercedes-Benz. It is a hard-top convertible. It’s a really beautiful car. Dropping the top on it makes you feel free, like there is not a worry or care in the world. In the book, 101 things you must do before you die, owning a convertible is one of the 101 things. So, in your lifetime, purchase a convertible and experience a true pleasure in life.
Driving is not always a chore or a tough drive, but can be fun. Because it depends on what kind of CAR you drive. I guess you have to ask yourself what you want out of a car first and then decide from there. If you need to haul and load stuff, then a truck would be your choice, but what kind of truck. An Escalade or a ford pickup? Both would solve your needs, but do you want to drive in luxury or not? That is the decision that faces us every-time we decide to go out and look to buy a car.
My choice for the SLK 230 was not for a comfortable ride, but more for the pleasure of driving with the top down with the wind in my hair and burning the roads up at 80 mph!!! I’ll be seeing you on the road!

I live in Houston, TX now and this weather is funky-crazy! I came home from a party Saturday night and it was 77 degrees inside my home!!! What in the world is going on? It’s the middle of December and it’s 77 degrees and I had to turn on the air conditioner for Pete’s sake!!! This is wild. I couldn’t believe it. I had to just post this and put this out there. One day we have the heater on and the next it’s the a/c unit on. Out weather is getting crazier every year. I’m dreaming of Christmas right now, but it sure feels like SUMMER, HELLO!!!
Devotional

Let us examine our ways.” Lamentations 3:40 NIV
A guy rushed into a service station one day and asked the manager if he’d a pay phone. The manager nodded, “Sure, over there.” The guy inserted a couple of coins, dialed and waited for an answer. Finally someone came on the line. “Uh, sir,” he said in a deep voice, “could you use an honest, hard-working young man?” The station manager couldn’t help overhearing the question. After a moment or two the guy said, “Oh, you already have an honest, hard-working young man? Well, okay. Thanks all the same.” A broad smile stretched across his face. He hung up the phone and started back to his car, obviously elated. “Hey, just a minute,” the station manager said, “I couldn’t help but hear your conversation. Why are you so happy? I thought the man said he already had someone and didn’t need you?” The guy smiled. “Well, you see, I am that honest, hard-working young man. I was just checking up on myself!”
If you’re serious about walking with God, examine yourself regularly. Are you praying, reading God’s Word and renewing your mind daily? How about your attitudes? Are they slipping? Your attitudes send a signal before you’ve said a word. They’re like traffic lights. Sometimes they flash red, which means ’stop, don’t get in my way, I’m too busy to love, help, or care.’ Sometimes they flash yellow, which means ‘I’m touchy and out-of-sorts, I could go either way.’ Sometimes they flash green, which means, ‘Let’s go, I’m with you, you can count on me.’ The Bible says, “Let us examine our ways…and…return to the Lord.” What needs to be examined regularly? “Our ways!”

computers

Well, I am a IT professional by trade. I love what I do, which is the most important thing for me, it’s not the money. The other aspect is that I enjoy my work and love working and helping people everyday. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and joy.
The amazing thing for me in this IT world is how fast paced it is. The way technology advances and has advanced is amazing. Even ‘blogging’ is a relatively new term that has just exploded in the past couple years. I am really enjoying this whole blogging thang too
I’m going to highlight some cool sites that have new and up to date ‘techy’ stuff that you can check out. They are do it yourself type of things as well, which is obviously good for those ‘not so techy, techies’
This first site – lifehacker - is something for everybody. It gives info into new websites that are really cool and things you would never have thought of that are out on the web.
The second site – Technet - is a cool site to help you find and fix that crazy PC problem(sorry mac lovers). Try to be specific in your search criteria here as well when your looking for a fix.
This third site – Dice - you probably have heard of and can help you find an IT job. Post your resume here too!
The fourth site – Hoaxes - is always a good place to look BEFORE you send out a silly email about turning on and off your headlights at night and flashing another driver, which will cause them to come after you, etc. Please do us ALL a favor and look here before you send out that spam email to everyone on your dist.list and piss them off because they will go and find out if it’s true or not and them spam everyone again saying it’s really NOT true. Be green and save emails. Thank YOU!
Another site – webstorage - can help you store free data online. This allows you to share info with others around the world and it doesn’t cost anything either. GREAT!!
This last site – cnet - is another familiar place that gives pretty good reviews and is free. If it’s free it’s me, is my attitude towards these types of things.
Well, I hope these sites will help you. I will post more sites in the future and share some more cool things about IT and the ever continuing universe that it is.
